INSTALLATION AREA: (Fig. 6)
Before positioning the stove we suggest laying a 1 mm thick metal plate that
juts out by at least 80 cm from the front of the stove if the floor is made of
inflammable material. The stove and flue should be kept separate by at least
21 cm from wooden beams and ceilings which must be protected with a
flame retardant material.
LEVELLING
Adjust the feet provided, slanting the stove and then level with a spirit level.
When slanting the stove take care not to knock it as it could damage the
ceramic parts.
CONNECTING TO THE FLUE (Fig. 7)
Before starting to assemble the stove, establish where it is going to be instal-
led and then connect it to the flue using steel pipes that are at least 2 mm
thick or stainless steel pipes that are at least 1 mm thick. The smoke outlet of
the PRISCILLA stove is 150 mm in diameter and must be connected to a flue
whose diameter must be at least:
- 150 mm or an equivalent surface for the height of the flue equivalent to or
higher than 4 metres.
- 200 mm or an equivalent surface for a minimum height of 3.5 metres.
TOP/REAR SMOKE OUTLET CONVERSION (Fig. 8/9). (Page 6)
The stoves are equipped so the smoke outlet can be reversed from rear to
top and vice versa. The stoves are made with the outlet at the top but,
depending on installation requirements, it can be altered during installation
putting the outlet at the back, following these instructions: 1). Remove clo-
sing cap (A) by unscrewing the 4 securing screws. 2). Remove the flange
with the top smoke outlet pipe, 150 mm in diameter (B), by unscrewing the
relative securing screws and pulling it out. Now assemble the components
as at points 1-2, inverting the functions if you want the rear smoke outlet.
FLUE FITTING KIT (89.200.155.0) Fig.10
The flue fitting kit will be supplied on request, made in matt black painted
steel with spigot-and-socket-joints, 15 cm in diameter.
FOR THE USER
USE AND MAINTENANCE (Page 7)
LIGHTING THE FIRE
The first few times you light the fire it must be a slow burning fire using
only a little firewood so that all the paintwork dries completely.
Light the fire by putting some paper first and then some well seasoned, small
pieces of firewood on top so that it lights quickly. Open the comburent air
grid completely. Close the door slowly until it is 3 to 4 cm from being com-
pletely closed to facilitate cold suction of the flue and to avoid any conden-
sation forming on the glass and possible smoke in the room. Add about half
the quantity of wood suggested. You can now feed the stove with the quan-
tities of firewood given below. While the fire is burning do not leave the
door or ash drawer ajar or open as it could lead to the "forge effect", with
violent combustion and possible damage to the stove. Once the stove is
going well we suggest adjusting the primary air to optimise combustion and
consumption of the firewood. Under normal use conditions of the stove big-
ger pieces of firewood can be used provided they are dry and seasoned.
Do not burn wood that is painted, damp or resinous.
N.B. Never use alcohol, petrol, kerosene or other liquid fuels to light the
fire. Only use ecological fire starters and never the petrol or chemical-
based types as they could damage the hearth's walls.
FUEL YIELD AND CONSUMPTION
The stoves use well seasoned firewood or lignite Briquettes as fuel. Do not
use conifers as they will dirty the flue. You can obtain a nominal yield of
10.5 kW of the stove by burning from 2.5-3 kg/h. of firewood. Do not over-
load the fireplace and do not use more firewood/hour than is declared.
OPERATION
P
RIMARY COMBUSTION AND COMBURENT AIR ADJUSTMENT
The handle in the middle of the ash drawer can be adjusted from the "all
closed" (OFF, handle to the left) to the "all open" position (ON, handle to
the right). It must be in the ON position when lighting the fire and then
moved to an intermediate position as required. On minimum (OFF) the fire
will burn slowly, the firewood will last a long time and heat will be less inten-
se. On maximum (ON) the fire will burn lively with maximum heat and the
firewood will burn quicker.
Warning! The handle can get very hot so use oven gloves.
N.B. If there are any unpleasant smells or fumes they are caused by the
evaporation or drying of some of the materials used. This phenomenon
will last for several fire lightings but then it will disappear.
SMOKE ADJUSTMENT VALVE (Fig. 12).
With the smoke adjustment valve you can control optimum flue draught. The
resulting advantages are: longer duration of the wood and regularity of
heat transmission to the room. This valve is in the smoke pipe fitting kit and
we suggest you use it for the other solutions.
GETTING RID OF THE ASHES (Fig. 13).
The ash drawer, which is external to the hearth, should be emptied before
lighting the fire each time and when it is full so as not to overheat the cast
iron grid preventing the comburent air reaching the hearth.
PYROCERAM (Page 8)
The stove is fitted with pyroceram that can withstand a temperature of
800°C: the glass can only be broken if subject to a heavy impact or a high
thermal shock.
