Installation
Intended use
Alarm indicators provide optical repeat signals for
automatic fire detectors.
Alarm indicators FDAI92-Ex and FDAI93-Ex can be used in
gas, vapor and mist areas at risk of explosion, zone 1.
– FDAI92-Ex (Fig. 1) for surface mounting
– FDAI93-Ex (Fig. 7) for installation in door frames, switch
panels, false ceilings or special surface-mounted
housings.
WARNING
Incorrect alarm indicator use
Risk of explosion from incorrect planning or
installation of alarm indicators
· Before installing the alarm indicators, you must
note the information provided in document
001204 'Fire alarm signal in areas at risk of
explosion'.
WARNING
Improper cleaning and maintenance of alarm
indicators
Risk of explosion
· Avoid electrostatic charging of devices during
cleaning and maintenance work.
· Do not use any solvents!
Installation of FDAI92-Ex, surface-mounted
1. Remove the white cover cap (press the black cam).
2. Mount the base plate (Fig. 2) on a wall or recess-
mounted socket using 2...4 screws with max. diameter
3 mm.
3. Connect the alarm indicator in accordance with the
connection diagram (Fig. 3).
4. Refit the white cover cap.
5. Snap the white cover cap into place.
Adapter frame AI330 for FDAI92-Ex
For surface-mounted cable entry the adapter frame AI330
(accessory) must also be mounted.
Max. cable diameter: 10 mm
1. Mount the adapter frame AI330 on a wall or recess-
mounted socket using two screws with max. diameter of
4 mm (Fig. 4, Fig. 5).
2. Attach alarm indicator FDAI92-Ex to adapter frame
AI330 with 2 wood or sheet-metal screws of
diameter 3 mm, max. 16 mm long.
Line connection FDAI92-Ex (Fig. 3)
1. Strip approx. 7...8 mm of insulation from connection
wires.
2. Insert wires in spring clips [1].
3. To insert thinner wires or release trapped wires:
Use a screwdriver or other suitable tool to press down
the relief [2] of the spring clip.

Installation of FDAI93-Ex in frames (Fig. 10) and
ceiling panels (Fig. 11)
1. Make a hole of ø 22.5 mm at the installation site.
2. Slide insulating cap [5] onto connection wires (Fig. 7).
3. Connect alarm indicator FDAI93-Ex in accordance with
the connection diagram (Fig. 9).
4. Slide insulating cap [5] onto alarm indicator until screw
terminals [6] are covered.
5. Press alarm indicator FDAI93-Ex into hole.
Surface-mounted housing DCA1191 and indicator
housing DJZ1193 for FDAI93-Ex
When using alarm indicator FDAI93-Ex in wet areas,
surface-mounted housing DCA1191 (accessory) or
indicator housing DJZ1193 (accessory) must also be
fitted.
Max. four alarm indicators FDAI93-Ex can be fitted in the
surface-mounted housing DCA1191. The necessary
installation holes of ø 22.5 mm must be made by the
customer. The washers must be ordered separately.
The indicator housing DJZ1193 has the installation hole
for installing an alarm indicator. A washer is supplied.
1. Use two screws of ø 3.5 mm to fit the housing on a
plane surface (Fig. 12, Fig. 15).
2. Fit alarm indicator FDAI93-Ex in a drilled hole of
ø 22.5 mm. Always use a washer [8] between the
collars of FDAI93-Ex and housing cover (Fig. 13,
Fig. 15).
3. Screw housing cover down to housing (Fig. 14, Fig. 15).
WARNING
Electrostatic charging of housing
Risk of explosion
· After installing the devices, attach the 'avoid
electrostatic charging' sticker (accessories) to
the housing DCA1193 or DJZ1193 such that it
is clearly visible.
Line connection FDAI93-Ex (Fig. 7, Fig. 8)
1. Strip approx. 7...8 mm of insulation from connection
wires.
2. Ensure that the screw terminals [6] are open.
3. Insert wires in screw terminals [6].
4. Tighten screw terminals [6].
Connection to automatic fire detector (Fig. 16)
Connect alarm indicators FDAI92-Ex and FDAI93-Ex as
shown in circuit diagram.
