Troubleshooting Thermostatic Mixing Valves

Before troubleshooting the valve or disassembling the components, check for the following conditions.
Be sure to properly connect the hot and cold inlet pipes. Verify there are no cross-connections or
leaking valves.
Verify the hot water inlet temperature is at least 120°F.
Be sure to close the appropriate shut-off valves prior to disassembling the valve. Reopen the valves
after inspection and any repairs are complete.

Cause
Solution
Replace cartridge with Cartridge Kit (S65-482).
Increase the hot water supply temperature.
Replace cartridge with Cartridge Kit (S65-482).
See "Faucet Temperature Adjustment" on page 5 to
properly set the temperature.
Clean Cartridge:
1. Verify both the hot and cold supplies are connected to

the Navigator
mixing valve and they have water flow.
2. Turn off both the hot and cold water supplies.
3. Remove the cover and hex nut.
4. Remove the cartridge and clean the strainer. If desired,
use ONLY silicone grease to lubricate the cartridge
O-rings.
