• Ear muffs, and in particular cushions, may
deteriorate with use and should be examined at
frequent intervals for cracking and leakage, for
example.
• The acoustic seal may be adversely affected by
wearing other equipment, such as spectacles,
respirators etc. This may reduce attenuation. If
in doubt, contact an occupational hygienist,
safety professional or 3M representative on the

• When worn, hearing protectors reduce ambient
sounds which may affect warning signals and
vital communication. Always ensure that you
select the right product to match the working
environment so that vital communication and
emergency sounds remain audible.
• Proper selection, training, use and appropriate
maintenance are essential in order for the
product to help protect the wearer from noise
hazards.
• Particular attention should be given to warning
statements where indicated.
• Failure to follow all instructions on the use of
these personal protection products and/or
failure to properly wear the complete product
during all periods of exposure may adversely
affect the wearer's health, lead to severe or life
threatening illness or permanent disability.
• See all instructions for use and save for
continuing reference.
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Prior to tting, inspect the product to ensure it is not
damaged. If this is discovered dispose of
immediately and obtain a new pair. Brush excess
hair aside and remove any ear jewellery that may
affect acoustic seal before attempting to t the
hearing protector.
1. Unfold the ear muffs by holding the ear cups with
one hand and lifting the headband up until it locks
into position. (To fold, hold the ear cups and press
the top of the headband down until it collapses into
position). (Figure 1).
2. Pull the cups apart and place the ear muffs over
the ears so that the cushions form a snug seal
around the ears (Figure 2).
3. Adjust the height for optimum comfort and t by
sliding the cups up or down the guide whilst holding
the headband in place (Figure 3).
4. Shows the product correctly tted (Figure 4).
FIT CHECK
When hearing protectors are correctly worn your
own voice should sound hollow and sounds around
you should not sound as loud as before.
For optimum noise reduction the cushions should
form a snug t against the head with no
interference of the seal by any objects e.g.
respirator headbands or spectacles arms. The cups
should completely enclose the ears. If you are
unable to t these ear muffs correctly and
comfortably contact your Health & Safety
professional or 3M for further advice.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
1. At the end of each shift the cushions of the ear
muffs should be wiped with a suitable material, for
example 3M™ 504 Cleaning wipes, so they remain
clean and hygienic. The product can also be
cleaned using mild detergent and water.
2. If the ear muffs cannot be cleaned or are
damaged, dispose of the product and obtain a new
pair.
3. Replace the product within 5 years from the date
of manufacture or immediately if damaged.
NOTE
3M™ Peltor™ HY100 sweat pads are also
available that can be applied onto the ear muff
cushions to help absorb sweat and moisture for
improved comfort and hygiene.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION
Follow the manufacturers recommendation for
storage. When transporting this product use
original packaging.

When stored ensure the headband is not stretched
(applies to headband/neckband versions) and the
cushions are not compressed as this may damage
the product.

thus CE marked. Certi cation under Article 10, EC
Type-Examination, has been issued for these
products by BSI, Kitemark Court, Davy Avenue,
Knowlhill, Milton Keynes, MK5 8PP, UK.
In relation to Art. 59.1 of the REACH Regulation No
