Instructions for putting into operation.
Mounting the auxiliary handle (Figure 4).
Screw the auxiliary handle tightly onto the left
or right side of the power tool, depending on the
working method.
Mounting the guard (Figure 3).
Loosen the tightening screw (3a).
Place the wheel guard (3) on in the required
working position and clamp the wheel guard (3)
using the tightening screw (3a).
Connection to the power supply
The power tool is supplied from the factory with a con-
nection cable without a plug.
Recommendation: For protection against overstressing,
the power tool is fitted with an appropriate FEIN motor
protection plug.
The plug should be mounted by an electrical
expert.
Before putting into operation, check the direction
of rotation of the drive shaft without any mounted
wheels and have it corrected if it does not agree.
The direction of rotation is marked on the power
tool with an arrow.
The output voltage and the power supply fre-
quency must agree with the specifications on the
name plate of the power tool.
If FEIN frequency converters are used, reliable operation
of the power tool is guaranteed.
Follow the steps in the operating instructions of
the frequency converter.
Operating instructions.
Adjustments.
Adjusting the guard (Figure 3).
Loosen the tightening screw (3a).
Swivel the guard (3) into the required working
position.
Tighten the tightening screw (3a) firmly.
Changing the tool.
Attaching or changing the wheel (Figure 1).
Hold the drive shaft using the open-jawed wrench,
size 17 mm (5c).
Loosen the threaded flange (1) with the face
spanner (5f).
Completely unscrew the threaded flange (1).
Change the used accessory or insert a new one.
In so doing, make sure that the grinding tool is cen-
tred properly between the inner and threaded
flange.
Hold the drive shaft using the open-jawed
wrench, size 17 mm (5c). Screw the threaded
flange (1) in again by hand.
Screw the threaded flange (1) tightly with the
face spanner (5f).
Securing the work piece.
Secure the workpiece adequately. A workpiece
that is not properly secured can, for example,
cause the accessory to jam and kick back, fall and
cause other hazards.
General operating instructions.
Switching ON and OFF (Figure 2).
First check that the mains supply lead and mains
plug are not damaged.
Switching ON:
Push the switch (2) towards the front (I).
Switching OFF:
Push the switch (2) toward the rear ( ).
Position the cord clear of the spinning accessory. If
you lose control of the power tool, the cord may
be cut or snagged and your hand or arm may be
pulled into the spinning accessory.
Use a high speed for grinding or cutting operations.
Do not strain the power tool!
Grinding:
Keep to an angle of tilt of 20 – 40°. In this way
you will obtain a good removal.
Press the power tool on evenly and move it
over the surface.
Do not allow the surface of the workpiece to
become too hot.
Cutting:
Always work against the direction of rotation so
that the cutting wheel does not jump out of the cut.
Repair and customer service.
When working metal under extreme operat-
ing conditions, it is possible for conductive
dust to settle in the interior of the power
tool. The total insulation of the power tool can be
impaired. Blow out the interior of the power tool via the
ventilation slots frequently with dry and oil-free com-
pressed air, and connect a residual current device (RCD)
on the line side.
If the supply cord of this power tool is damaged it must
be replaced by a specially prepared cord available
through the FEIN customer service centre.
If required, you can change the following parts yourself:
Application tools, auxiliary handle, clamping unit or
flanges, wheel guard.
