DESCRIPTION
This product is a personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from a height
complying to the European Directive 89/686/CEE and to the relevant CE
Standard. It is designed to be used as a component of a fall arrest system as per
standard EN363. Its design offers good comfort during use and high safety
conditions. The elastic webbing NLEP is a restraint lanyard with integrated energy
absorber made of special woven polyester. This elastic lanyard expands from 1,20
m and 1,70 m between each loops (1,40 m and 2 m between each connector)
and offers smooth using conditions.
Moreover, the integrated energy absorber which activates after a fall, increases
the length of the lanyard to approximately 3,5 m limiting progressively the
braking force. It is important not to confuse the elastic function with the energy
absorbing function of this product.
The lanyard can be supplied with or without the connectors.
VERIFICATIONS :
Check, by visual inspection, before, during and after use, that the
-
equipment is in good condition and for the absence of defects: condition of
the lanyards, seams, and adjustment buckles and rings.
indications of breaks, traces of oxidation or discoloration, and ensure the legibility of markings,
(identification and/or date of validity). Check that the loops are in clean condition.
In case of doubt about the reliability of the equipment, do not use it before obtaining written
-
authorization from a person who is competent to decide on its reuse.
When combining the fall arrest system with other safety components, verify the compatibility of each of
-
the components and make sure to apply all recommendations from product notices and the applicable
standards relative to fall arrest systems. Ensure in particular that the safety functions
of one of the components are not affected by the safety functions of another
component and that they do not interfere with each other.
Before use check that the lanyard has not been subject to a fall: its length when fully
-
extended must not exceed 1,70 m between the loops of the webbing. If this happens,
the product must be discarded as this means that it has arrested a fall and is no longer
serviceable.
The overall length of the lanyard with its connectors must not exceed 2 meters.
-
Before each use of a fall arrest system, it is imperative to verify the free fall space
-
(clearance) required under the user, in such a manner that in the event of a fall, there
is no collision either with the ground or with a fixed or moving obstacle that is found
within the trajectory.
Amount of Vertical Clearance: 6 meters.
