Connecting the shielding gas cylinder
Place the shielding gas cylinder [30] in a suit-
■
able place and secure it to prevent it from falling
over.
Use a wall bracket or cylinder trolley for secure
■
positioning of the cylinder.
Open the valve of the gas cylinder [29] several
■
times in rapid succession so that dirt particles, if
any, are blown out.
Connect the pressure reducer [33] to the
■
shielding gas cylinder [30].
Screw the shielding gas hoses [34] of the TIG
■
welding torch to the pressure reducer.
Open the gas cylinder valve [29] of the gas
■
cylinder.

Oxidised tungsten electrodes (thorium oxide, e.g.
electrode WT 20, or cerium oxide WC 20) ignite
more easily and have higher current loads than
electrodes of pure tungsten. Electrodes of oxidised
tungsten are generally used for DC welding.

Important
If the welding current is too low, no arc
can be drawn; if the welding current is
too high, the tungsten electrode melts.
Switching on the machine
Switch on the machine at the main switch [6] and
select with button [20] the "TIG" welding method
(LED [16] TIG lights up).
A power range from 5 A to 180 A is available
for TIG welding. Set the welding current at rotary
knob [13].
Setting of ancillary parameters
The machine has ancillary welding parameters
which are programmed to default values at the fac-
tory. These ancillary parameters can be changed by
the user (see setting templates in the Annex) :
