Hard Cargo Carrier (Short)
IMPORTANT:
• Read these instructions before using the Cargo Carrier.
• Install the Cargo Carrier using these Instructions ONLY.
• Keep these Instructions in the vehicle.
• Sensitivity to cross-winds, behavior in curves and on braking:
The handling of the car changes when you transport a load on the
roof; for safety reasons, we recommend you not to drive faster than
120 km/hr (75 mph).
• Note: The maximum permissible roof load must not be exceeded
(see vehicle handbook for details of the maximum rood load). The
roof load comprises the weight of the basic rack plus the roof box
and the load itself.
• Make sure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps, levers and locks are
firmly attached, tightened and locked before every trip. Never
drive with any lock, knob, or rack in an open or unlocked posi-
tion. Knobs, bolts, screws, straps, and locks must be periodically
inspected for signs of wear, corrosion, and fatigue. Check your load
at stops during the trip to insure continued fastening security.
• Check country, state and local laws governing projection of objects
beyond the width of a vehicle.
• Remove your rack accessories when they are not in use, before
entering car washes, prior to taking in your vehicle for service, and
whenever clearance may be an issue.
• Remove valuable gear if your vehicle is unattended for an extend-
ed period.
• Place at least one key in the glove compartment.
• Weight: 11.3 kg (24.9 lbs)
Installation Instructions:
1. Initially set crossrails spaced 70 cm (27.6") apart and place hard
cargo carrier onto crossrails as shown in Figure 1.
Installation Option A: Onto crossrails WITHOUT T-bolt type instal-
lation. If installing onto crossrails WITH T-bolt installation go to step
2B.
Note: The attachment mechanism can be installed while the
box is on the vehicle or off. Be aware of the hardware hanging
from the bottom of the box. Lift box carefully to avoid damaging
the vehicle.
2A. Attach adhesive foam strip (L) to the bottom center of each sup-
port plate (B) as shown in Figure 2A.
3A. Determine the mounting holes to be used for your vehicle's rack
configuration. Select holes that position the bolts as close to the
crossrail as possible. Referring to figure 2A, insert bolt (C) from
underneath through the quick on/off bracket (D), through the sup-
port plate (B), and into the pre-drilled hole in the base of the box.
From inside the box, fit the internal tie down bracket (E) over the
threads of the bolt.

4A. Insert barrel nut (F) into cam lever (G) and screw onto bolt (C).
Rotate cam lever (G) until barrel nut (F) is hand tight. Repeat for
adjacent bolt.
5A. Complete for all 4 attachment locations.
6A. Center box onto cross rails and firmly secure all attachments by
rotating cam levers (G) into closed position as shown in Figure
2A. Proceed to step 7 below.
Note: Ensure that support plates (B) are positioned between the box
and the crossrail. Quick on/off bracket (D) can be rotated out of posi-
tion for ease of removal from vehicle. Keep attachment mechanism
attached to cargo box when not in use to avoid misplacing hardware
and aid in re-assembly.
Installation Option B: Onto crossrails WITH T-bolt type installation.
2B. Remove covers or end caps and rub strips as required on cross
rails to access T-Slots.
3B. Position support plate (B) between cross rails and cargo box as
shown in Figure 2B.
4B. Insert T-bolt into center hole of support plate (B) then through
a hole in bottom of the cargo box. From inside the box, fit the
internal tie down bracket (I) over the threads of the bolt. Place
lock washer (J) over T-bolt and loosely attach knob (K). Slide
assembly into T-Slot of crossrail as shown in Figure 2B.
5B. Repeat for all 4 attachment locations.
6B. Center box onto cross rails and firmly secure all attachments by
tightening knob (K). Re-install access covers or end caps that
were previously removed for installation.
7. Insert straps (N) through the openings of the internal tie down
brackets (E or I) as shown in Figures 3A or 3B. Loads must be
secured with straps to prevent them from shifting.
8. Affix round patches (M) to any unused holes in the cargo box as
shown in Figure 4
9. Ensure that all loads are evenly distributed inside the cargo box.
Do not exceed the maximum loading as shown in Figure 5. Do
not exceed the maximum load for the roof as recommended by
the vehicle owners manual or that of the maximum load of the
cross rails.
10. Unlocking: Insert key and turn clockwise to the unlocked posi-
tion. The key can only be removed when the cargo box lid is
closed and locked. See Figure 6.
Locking: To close, press down on the lid at the front and rear
of the cargo box. Turn key counter-clockwise to lock. Re-
move key. See Figure 6.
