II.7.3
PROTECTING THE UNIT FROM FROST
IMPORTANT!
If the master switch is opened, it cuts off the
electrical supply to the plate heat exchanger
resistance and the compressor casing heater. The
switch should only be disconnected for cleaning,
maintenance or repair of the machine.
With the unit running or OFF but still energised, if the water probe at the
heat exchanger outlet detects a temperature below 4°C and the system
acknowledges that the pump is not running, the antifreeze heater is
activated; if both the air temperature and the water temperature drop
below 2°C, both the antifreeze heater and the compressor will be
activated in winter mode.
IMPORTANT!
When the unit is out of service, drain all the water
from the circuit.
If the draining operation is considered to be too much trouble, ethylene
glycol may be mixed with the water in suitable proportions in order to
guarantee protection from freezing.
IMPORTANT!
Mixing the water with glycol modifies the
performance of the unit.
The use of ethylene glycol is recommended if you do not wish to drain
the water from the hydraulic system during the winter break or if the unit
needs to supply chilled water at temperatures lower than 5°C. Mixing
with glycol changes the physical properties of the water and
consequently the performance of the unit. The proper percentage of
glycol to be added to the system can be obtained from the most
demanding operating conditions.

II.8
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
DANGER!
Always install a general circuit breaker in a
protected area near the machine with a
characteristic delayed curve, with sufficient
capacity and breaking power and a minimum 3 mm
opening distance of the contacts. The Earth
connection is compulsory by law to ensure user
safety while the machine is in use.
DANGER!
The electrical connection of the unit must be
carried out by qualified personnel, in compliance
with the regulations applicable in the country where
the unit is installed. RHOSS S.p.A. shall not be held
liable for damage to persons or property caused by
a non-compliant electrical connection. The route of
the electric wires for the panel to be connected,
must not touch the hot parts of the machine
(compressor, outlet pipe and liquid line). Protect the
wires from any burrs.
IMPORTANT!
For the electrical connections of the unit and
accessories, refer to the relative wiring diagram.

After opening the front panel of the unit, feed the power supply and
control cables through the relevant cable glands in the external
panelling. Use the fitted cable glands or replace them with those
supplied together with the unit. Separate the power supply cables from
the signal cables.
The electrical supply provided by the single- or three-phase line must
be taken to the terminal block of the unit.
The power cable must be flexible for outdoor use: for the section, refer
to the following table.
Cable section for unit 230V
Line size
PE size
Remote controls and commands size mm²
Cable size for unit 400V
Line size

The indicated power supply sizes (FG16 cable) are approximate. The
installer is responsible for choosing the right size for the electrical
supply line switch – including the earth cable – depending on: the length
of the line, distribution system, cable type, type of installation, maximum
consumption of the unit.
The earth conductor must be longer than the other conductors in order
to ensure that if the cable fastening device slackens, it will be the last to
be pulled taut.
II.8.1.1 Remote management via control panel
The unit is managed from a supplied remote control panel.

Installation
The control panel must only be installed indoors in a protected area. It
is not built for outdoor installation.
Do not install the control panel in damp places or in direct sunlight.
Installation is intended on a wall. Secure the relevant support to the wall
and hook the control panel onto it. Release the panel from the support
with a screwdriver and pry the two slots on the lower side.
The support is compatible with two-module recessed boxes (Bticino
502E type).
