Böckli
Module
2 arches, Böckli board (peg board screwed together with lining), cushion,
short rod with non-slip film, FEPS rod without sticks.
Construction
Stick the Böckli board into the slots in the arches, place the cushion on top
and securely fasten to the underside of the Böckli board. Place the short rod
under one of the waves of the arches to create the required angle. Velcro
strips (not included) can be inserted into the slots of the Böckli board to hold
the lower arm in place.
Exercise
Place the Böckli on the table so that the left or right arm can be placed on
it from a seated position. Place the lower arm on the Böckli, in such a way
that the wrist can move freely over the edge of the Böckli board. Dorsal and
palmar flexion movements and radial and ulnar abduction can be achieved
with the hand stretched out, with the fist closed or with the FEPS rod held in
the fist. The weight of the rod increases the challenge.
Pro and supination exercise
The FEPS rod is held vertically in the middle of the fist. The radial side faces
up. The rod is moved into the most horizontal position possible, with the palm
and the back of the hand face up alternately. The rod in the hand clarifies the
change of direction during movement.
12
For practising dorsal
and palmar flexion,
radial and ulnar
abduction in the wrist
and pro and supination
in the wrist and elbow
joints.
Construction
Stick the Böckli board into the slots in the arches. Attach the cushion if this
prevents it from sliding away on the table. However, this is not essential for
the construction. Put the Böckli on the table with the waves facing up. Put
non-slip film underneath if required.
Exercise
Roll the short rod up over the waves of the arch with the outstretched hand.
The sloping surface must be facing upwards. This must be redone before every
wave. The hand must always be bent dorsally at the wrist.
Variations:
Use the Böckli on its
reverse side to make a
"cradle". The "toothed
wheel" effect when rolling
over the waves slows down
the movement. For flowing
movement, place a soft
foam mat or several folded
hand towels under the
"cradle". Press the palm
onto the Böckli board. Use
alternating stretching and
bending movements in the wrist to make the Böckli move up and down like
a cradle.
For resistance training of
dorsal and palmar flexion
in the wrist.
