6.3.3 Connecting the bus coupler as a final
station
1. Set up the correct pin assignment (see Tab. 5 on
page 61) on the plug connections if you do not use
pre-assembled cables.
2. Connect the incoming bus connection to the X71
(BUS IN) plug (1).
3. Close the unused socket (2) with an M12 protective
cap to ensure IP protection (see the chapter "Spare
parts and accessories" on page 83).
4. Connect the shield on both sides of the bus cable
directly to the plug housing (EMC housing), if non-pre-
assembled cables and plugs with metal housing are
used. This protects data lines from terminal
interference.
Ensure that the plug housing is securely fitted to the
bus coupler housing.
Equalizing currents:
A potential equalization line of at least 10 mm
needed between the devices to avoid compensating
currents from flowing over the shield of the bus
coupler.
Bus cable:
The EtherCAT cable must at least fulfil the
requirements for category CAT5e and should be a
cable with double shielding (S/STP) with a maximum
length of 100 m.
6.3.4 Connecting the bus coupler logic and load
supply
Power is supplied to the valves and the bus coupler via
the X10 (POWER) plug.
When connecting the logic and load supply of the bus
coupler, ensure pin assignment according to Tab. 6.
