Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

This appliance conforms to the current EMC
standards.
Please note:
Welding machines consume so much power that
they may affect public electricity networks. For this
reason the mains supply is subject to requirements
regarding the maximum permissible network
impedance. The maximum permissible mains
impedance (Z
) of the interface to the mains grid
max
(mains power supply) is specified in the technical
data. Contact the electricity network operator if
required.
The appliance is intended for welding both
in commercial and industrial environments
(CISPR 11 class A). Using the appliance in an-
other environment (e.g. in a residential area) may
affect electrical equipment in that area.
During start-up, electromagnetic problems may be
caused in:
• Power cables, control lines, signal and telecom-
munication lines in the vicinity of the welding /
cutting appliance
• TV and radio transmitters and receivers
• Computers and other control equipment
• Security equipment in commercial buildings (e.g.
alarm systems)
• Cardiac pacemakers and hearing aids
• Calibrating and measuring equipment
• Appliances with insufficient interference resist-
ance
If any other facility or equipment in
the surrounding area is affected, addi-
tional protective barriers may become
necessary.
The surrounding area to be taken into consider-
ation may extend beyond the boundaries of the
premises. This depends both on the type of the
building and on the other activities performed at
the site.
Always observe information and instructions
provided by the manufacturer when operating the
appliance. The company operating the appliance
is responsible for the setup and the operation of
the appliance.
If electromagnetic disturbances occur, the operating
company is responsible for the elimination of this
distubances (with technical help from the manufac-
turer if necessary).

Tungsten electrodes must always be welded in
longitudinal direction, as grinding scores running
transversely result in an unsteady electric arc.
The top of the electrode for DC welding must be
and remain pointed like a pencil. The tip angle here
depends on the welding current strength. For DC
welding it is sufficient to slightly grind the edge of the
electrode. A round to slightly crowned form develops
after a short time.
Attention!
If the electrode tip is contaminated by touching the
weld pool or the stick electrode, this part must be
completely ground off and the electrode tip ground
to a point again. Grind in longitudinal direction!
Electrode welding method
Connect the electrode welding cable
Connect the electrode welding cable to the –
ve [2] or +ve [5] socket and secure the cable by
turning clockwise.
The instructions of the electrode manufac-
turer must always be strictly observed!
