After connecting the power supply cord to the mains power
supply or a generator, turn the machine on at the On/Off
switch.
It has to be ensured that the voltage of the power
source the machine is connected to corresponds to
the rated voltage of the machine. Also, when using
Caution
extension cables, their section has to comply with
the indication given in Sect. 3.4.
4.1
Configuring the Machine, Entering Welding Parameters
After the machine was switched on, Display 1 shows on the
screen, then a screen with the version of the used control
software.
The machine will then automatically start the auto-test pro-
cess to check the sensors and the system clock and to deter-
mine the number of free welding reports. This test can be
bypassed by holding down the STOP/RESET key when Dis-
play 1 is showing.
If during the auto-test an error is detected, a "Sys-
tem Error" message shows. When this happens, the
system has to be disconnected immediately from the
Caution
power supply, the heating element, and the facing
tool and it has to be returned to the manufacturer
for repair.
If the machine is not in the "open" position (i.e., movable
carriage as far apart from the fixed one as possible), Dis-
play 2 shows. To move it, press the OPEN key. The machine
will then move it to the far end.
It is possible to bring the movable carriage to any
desired position by pressing and holding down the
INCREASE PRESSURE or REDUCE PRESSURE key. The
carriage can then be sent back to the "open" posi-
Info
tion by pressing the OPEN key.
Subsequently, Display 3 appears and shows the data for the
report of the next welding, including time of day, date, re-
port number, and joint number, along with, in the second-
to-last line, the actual input voltage and — if the cable of
the heating element for butt welding is connected — the ac-
tual and nominal heating element temperature before and
after the slash.
From Display 3, it is possible to access the configuration
menu, in which the default behavior of the welding ma-
chine can be configured. To access it, press the MENU key
and then, on the following screen, enter the access code us-
ing the alphanumeric keypad (refer to the Info at the begin-
