Caution: In the event that the vehicle is involved in a traffic accident
EN
and sustains damage to the front bumper, the damaged component
must always be replaced or, if appropriate, repaired. Then, once the
paint has fully dried, a new front bumper spoiler can be fitted.
In order to correctly adhere the spoiler to the vehicle, the ambient temperature, the vehicle
temperature and the temperature of the components to be adhered must be between 18
and 30 °C. Protect the components from direct sunlight (fig. 1). During the preliminary work,
always lay the spoiler on a soft, clean surface, in order to avoid causing damage.
Caution: When adhering the components, ensure that the work area
is adequately ventilated – the cleaning agents contain dangerous
fumes.
Fitting procedure
Fig. 2
› Place the vehicle on the arms of the workshop lifting platform and raise it accordingly.
› Thoroughly wash the surface of the front bumper where the spoiler is to be adhered with
a solution of mild soapy water, and rinse it with clean water. Then clean and degrease the
surface with Terostat 8550 cleaning agent. Leave to dry for 10 minutes.
Please note: Ensure that the entire surface of the bumper where the
spoiler is to be adhered is completely free from dirt and moisture.
Fig. 3, 4
› Correctly position the spoiler (A) on the bumper so that the contact surface matches
the shape of the bumper and the spoiler is aligned with the vehicle axle. In addition, the
requisite gaps must be left along the sections in figure 4, and the spoiler recess and bumper
must fit together.
› Use a suitable pencil to mark where the centre, upper edge and bottom section of the
spoiler come up to on the front bumper to guide you when you come to adhere it. Mark
these points all the way around the front bumper.
› Two people are required to carry out this step.
Fig. 5
› Check that the outlines you have drawn on are correct (see arrows).
Fig. 6
› Use a Mirlon VF non-woven abrasive pad to roughen the area on the front bumper inside
the drawn-on outline where the spoiler is to be adhered (see arrows) – use the dimension
shown in the figure for the area to be roughened.
› Then clean and degrease the entire surface with Terostat 8550 cleaning agent. Leave to dry
for 10 minutes.
Caution: Do not roughen the area outside of the spoiler outline.
