The safety position switch can be operated only with its
associated triple-coded actuator.
The initial direction of actuation can be either linear or
radial.
Note: The operating mechanism can only be adjusted
through 4 x 90 ° if the actuator is inserted.
Do not use the position switch as a stop!

Safety information about the actuator
In the interests of maintaining adequate safety, the actua-
tors are only allowed to be purchased and used in conjunc-
tion with the associated safety switch.
The position switch and the actuator should be assembled
in such a way that the actuator can be inserted into the
operating mechanism without applying any significant lat-
eral force.
The actuator is only allowed to be handed over to suitably
qualified persons with the necessary know-how and experi-
ence in dealing with the relevant standards and safety
rules. The objective is to guarantee optimum protection for
persons and machines and to enable instances of misuse
to be identified immediately. If the actuator enters into the
possession of unauthorized persons, the safety device may
be manipulated and accidents can occur.
Please pass this information on to all customers who pur-
chase separate actuators, to ensure that these actuators
are only made available to authorized persons.

System description/suggested application
The protective door is closed while the machine is operat-
ing. The actuator is inserted in the safety switch and
locked. The enable circuits on the evaluation module are
closed and the enable circuit on the control module is
open. It is necessary to reach behind the protective grille
for maintenance purposes. The machine must be switched
off by the operator beforehand.
This causes the enable circuits on the evaluation module to
open and the power level of the machine to be deactivated.
Since the dangerous movement of the machine is not
stopped immediately, the safety switch must not enable the
actuator until the machine overtravel has finished. This is
ensured by a suitable control module, such as a zero-
speed relay or a delay module. The safety contacts (posi-
tively driven NC contacts
restarting if the protective door is open. The additional NO
contacts can be used as signaling contacts. In this case,
these contact functions serve to improve the availability of
the machine rather than safety.

) prevent the machine from
If suitable evaluation modules are available, the NO con-
tacts can be incorporated in the safety circuit as additional
monitoring devices.
The contact pair used for monitoring is positively switched
by the actuator, so that the position of the protective door is
sensed directly. The contact pair used for monitoring the
locking device is positively connected to the locking bar so
that a failure of the tumbler device is detected by the fail-
safe controller. The integrated fail-safe principle prevents
the locking device from being set to the locked position if
the actuator is not yet inserted in the safety switch. This
contact pair can thus also be used to monitor the protective
device. The fact that it is possible for the contact pairs to
monitor each other means that fail-safe controllers up to
Category 3 in accordance with EN 954-1 can be imple-
mented providing they are integrated in suitable safety
concepts.
