• Any manner of working that impairs safety on the unit is prohibited.
• Keep all safety and danger notices on/at the unit complete and always in a legible condition.
• The operator is obliged to check safety-relevant parts, such as guards (protective panels) before commissioning and, in the event of any defects,
resolve these defects before commissioning.
• As a matter of principle, no guards may be dismantled or put out of operation.
• If a guard needs to be removed for repair, the guard must be refitted once the repair work has been completed.
• Before removing the safety panels, the M10 transport safety screws must be fitted in order to secure the carriage in place.
• The length of the cattle's tail hair must not exceed 5 cm. Risk of injury!
• During assembly, make sure that no tensile force is applied to the connecting cable between the drive and brush unit and the control unit
housing or that the cable is mechanically damaged!
• Place the control box above the unit and out of reach of the animals!
• Motor cables from the unit frame to the control unit may have to be protected from being chewed by animals!
• Operation of the unit is only permitted with components and spare parts that are supplied or listed in the spare and wear parts list.
• The dip switch setting may only be made by a qualified electrician following consultation with Kerbl Service.
The unit must be disconnected from the voltage supply for this to be done.
• The dip switch setting is coordinated with this unit. If the default setting is changed, injuries can occur.
The responsibility for this setting lies with the customer.
• The maintenance intervals specified in these operating instructions must be observed.
• Gear ventilating screw included, which must be fitted without fail before the first activation (see Fig. 1 - item 3)!
• With pillar mounting especially, take care to ensure that the base frame does not twist. (possibly as a result of too much tension on the screws)
• The mounting frame available as an accessory (#18820-1) should be used for mounting on round or square pillars.
• The mounting frame for railings available as an accessory (#18820-2) should be used for mounting the machine on railings.
• Only use genuine spare parts.

3. Residual risks and foreseeable misuse

Risks for persons:
• under the following circumstances, the safety of persons and material objects can be endangered:
• If the guards on moving parts have been removed.
• If any damage to the electronic control unit is not repaired immediately.
• Troubleshooting, adjustment, cleaning, repair and maintenance work contrary to the instructions in the operating instructions.
• If untrained personnel are working on electronic parts.
• If the unit is activated before being secured properly to a wall or pillar (for testing or demonstration reasons).
• Failure to observe safety instructions and warning labels on the product and the safety instructions in the operating instructions.
• Unauthorised modifications to the unit.
• Use of non-original manufacturer spare parts
The following points summarise further measures aimed at protecting against personal and material risks:
• Ensure that the unit, the control devices and the brushes are not damaged during transport and installation.
• Mount the unit in a place that is well ventilated and free from electromagnetic interference.
• The personnel responsible must be trained in the use and maintenance of the unit.
Risk for animals:
under the following circumstances, the safety of the animals can be endangered.
• The animals are not yet fully mature.
• The cattle are of an unusually small breed.
• The switch-off resistance can be set too high.
• The animals have collars and/or tail hair that are too long (max. 5 cm).
• The animals' hides are more than 5 cm long.
• Live parts (cables) are not sufficiently/at all protected against chewing.
Important! The length of the cattle's tail hair must not exceed 5 cm!
