D-Sub connection
With the LS04, the solenoid coils are controlled via a D-Sub connection. The
connection pins are run in a cable channel via the left end plate and through all the
plate valves and assigned to the respective solenoids.
Supply/separation plates
The supply plates or supply/separation plates allow you to connect additional air
supply and exhaust lines within the LS04/LS04 SW and also let you separate the
system into various pressure zones if designed as supply/separation plates or
separation plates. This is necessary
W
with high air consumption,
W
for operation with multiple pressure zones or
W
if the exhaust channels are separated.
The supply/separation plates can be freely positioned in the VS and do not use any
plugs for valve control. A maximum of 3 supply/separation plates may be installed
per VS.
Variants

Blanking plate
The blanking plate is used to occupy an unused, reserve position in the VS.
Valves
The valves for the LS04/LS04 SW have been designed as plate valves and feed the
air to the pneumatic drives. The plate valves are inserted directly in the VS and fixed
using tie rods. Each plate valve contains a cable channel segment that is a part of the
cable channel that runs behind the plate valves.
In the LS04, the individual valves are electrically controlled via the cable loop in the
cable channel.
In the LS04, the cable channel segments only serve as coverings and do not contain
any electrical lines.
Variants

3 Rating plate for plate valves
4 Recess for upper tie rod guide
Plate valves are available in two versions:
W
with single solenoid valves
W
with double solenoid valves
The pneumatic function and part number are printed on the rating plate of the plate
valves (1).
W
Valve positions that can only be occupied by a single solenoid valve are
identified with a "monostable" label on the rear of the cable channel
segment.
W
Valve positions that can be occupied by either a single solenoid valve or a
double solenoid valve have no identification.

Assembly
Danger of injury if assembled under pressure or voltage!
Assembling when under pressure or voltage can lead to injuries and damage to
the product or system components.
O Make sure that the relevant system part is not under voltage or pressure
before you assemble the product.
O Protect the system against being switched on.
The valve system contains electronic components that are sensitive to
electrostatic discharge (ESD)!
If the electronic components are touched by persons or objects, this may lead to
an electrostatic discharge that could damage or destroy the valve system.
O Observe the handling instructions and recommendations in IEC 61340-5-1 to
avoid the risk of electrostatic discharge.
Assembly options
The following options exist for mounting the VS:
W
on a flat surface or
W
on a hat rail (EN 60715 – TH 35-7.5/TH 35-15)
Any mounting orientation may be used with the LS04/LS04 SW.
Assembling the LS04 on a flat surface
Incorrect mounting
Incorrect mounting of the VS may result in uncontrolled movements that could
damage other system parts.
O Make sure that all components are attached to a flat surface that is securely
fastened to the machine or a mounting plate.
1. Make sure the relevant system part is not under pressure or voltage before
starting assembly work.
2. Assemble the LS04/LS04 SW with four screws (e.g. ISO EN 4762 – M4 x 35,
tightening torque 2.5 + 0.5 Nm (1.84 + 0.37 ft-lb)) without distortion on a flat
surface.
The dimensions for the possible VS variants are listed in Figures
Tables

.
Assembling the LS04/LS04 SW on a hat rail
The VS can be fastened to a hat rail (EN 60715 – TH 35-7.5/TH 35-15).
A mounting kit for hat rail (part number R422100892) is needed to assemble
the VS on a hat rail.
Always observe the following points:
O Always follow the instructions included with the mounting kit.
O Mount the VS in such a manner that it is not released from the hat rail if the
clamping plates are loosened.
O Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical and pneumatic
connections so that the permissible minimum bending radii for the cables and
tubing are adhered to.
Danger due to vibrations
Vibrations can cause the mountings to break and the VS to come loose from the
hat rail in an uncontrolled manner.
O Make sure that the hat rail is not subject to vibrations.
15
To assemble the VS on a hat rail:
1. Make sure the relevant system part is not under pressure or voltage before
starting assembly work.
2. Tighten both of the mounting plates on the rear of the left and right end plates (1).
Tightening torque 1.1 + 0.5 Nm (0.81 + 0.37 ft-lb).
3. Insert a screw with an eccentric clamping plate in the left and right end plates (1)
of the VS and align the clamping plates with the symbol printed on the rear.
4. Align both of the clamping plates so that the markings on them are positioned
exactly over the ones on the mounting plates, and then suspend the VS in the hat
rail (2).
5. Tighten the screws on the eccentric clamping plates (3)
