In general, supply and separation plates do not use any plugs. The cable
length between the plugs of the cable loop has been designed in such a
manner that a supply plate can be installed without loss of plugs.
22
Installation order of plate valves for the LS04
In configurations with up to 12 plate valves, each valve position is assigned two
connection pins for solenoid coils 12 and 14. In configurations with more than 12
plate valves, the assignments of the connection pins depend on the available cable
loop designs.
The slots for single solenoid valves are indicated by a symbol on the cable channel.
The pin assignments for the configured VS can be found in the information provided
on delivery.
When extending the LS04, the plate valves for double solenoid valves must
be mounted before those for single solenoid valves, starting from the left
end plate.
The maximum number of 24 solenoid coils which can be controlled limits the
maximum number of plate valves. If additional plate valves are installed which
exceed this amount, the valves placed on them cannot be controlled electrically.
Installing plate valves in the LS04 SW
With the LS04 SW, the individual wiring system lets you configure up to 24 double
solenoid plate valves in any order.
Mixing the LS04 and LS04 SW
You can also mix valves for the LS04 and LS04 SW. As far as the number of plate
valves that can be installed is concerned, the information stated in the previous
sections applies (see "Installing plate valves in the LS04" and "Installing plate valves
in the LS04 SW").
Installation order of plate valves
The following order must be used if mixing LS04 and LS04 SW plate valves.
Starting from the left end plate:
1. First, install all valves for the LS04.
2. Then, install all valves for the LS04 SW.
3. After this, no more valves for the LS04 can follow.
Please also note the information on the installation order for LS04 valves (see
"Installation order of plate valves for the LS04").
There is no electrical connection between the LS04 and LS04 SW plate
valves.

Installing plate valves and supply plates
Disassembly
1. Make sure that the system is not under pressure or voltage and remove all
connections.
2. Disassemble the VS from the hat rail/flat surface.
3. Loosen and remove both of the hex socket-head screws (12) and remove the
right end plate (10).
4. If necessary, remove the individual plate valves up to the desired installation
location (see "Installation order of plate valves for the LS04").
Installation
5. Screw both of the tie rod extensions (5) (included in each extension kit) into the
tie rods (15, 16).
(tightening torque: 1.2–1.4 Nm (0.89–1.03 ft-lb)
Improperly tightened tie rods
Incompletely or improperly tightened tie rods will damage the system.
O Before assembling the valve block, check whether the tie rod extensions (5)
have been completely screwed in.

NOTICE
Only use original parts from AVENTICS. The tie rod extensions are adjusted
to the expansion coefficient of the base plates so that the valve system
remains leaktight under all operating conditions.
6. Only with the LS04: Remove the reserve plug (17) from the right end plate (10)
and press it into the provided cable channel segment (7).
The plugs of two neighboring valve positions can be pulled apart so that the
supply plate does not occupy a slot when installed.
7. Only with the LS04: Close the cable channel segment (7) and connect it with the
cable channel (4).
8. Replace the right end plate (10) and loosely insert both of the hex socket-head
screws (12).
9. First insert the new plate valve (6) or new supply plate (3) in the upper tie rod
guide (14) on the upper tie rod (15) and tilt the plate valve (6) to the rear until it is
guided into the lower tie rod (13).
Make sure that the seal(s) (9) have been inserted correctly and that the electrical
valve contacts are straight.
10.Install the right end plate (10) and screw in both of the hex socket-head screws
(12) in the tie rod mounting. Tightening torque: 1.2 – 1.4 Nm (0.89 - 1.03 ft-lb).
Make sure the centering pins are correctly positioned in the guides (8) and cable
channel segments (7).
Assembly
11.Reassemble the VS on the hat rail/flat surface.
12.Bring the manual override(s) to the Push position (normal position).
13.Reestablish the pneumatic connections (see "Connecting the pneumatics").
14.With the LS04: Expand the connector pin wiring for the additional valve positions
(see "LS04 electrical connection").
With the LS04 SW: Wire the newly installed valves (see "LS04 SW electrical con-
nection").
15.Check all screws and connections once more and start the system again.
With version LS04 SW the valves are supplied with a mounted cable channel.
For this reason, AVENTICS recommends that you slide the valves for version
LS04 SW onto the tie rods after the right end plates have been removed. It is
not necessary to screw in the valves.
Separating pressure zones
Different pressure zones can be created between two valve positions by inserting a
supply/separation plate between the valve positions (plate valves) or by adding more
sources of supply.
A maximum of 3 supply/separation plates may be installed per VS.
23
Separating pressure zones between two valve positions (plate
valves)
When installing a supply plate, both cable channel segments and the tie rod
extensions from the extension kit must be used for two valve positions (see
"Spare Parts and Accessories").
1. Carry out steps 1 to 8, as described under "Installing plate valves and supply
plates".
2. First insert the new supply plate (3) in the upper tie rod guide (14) on the upper
tie rod (16) and tilt the supply plate (3) to the rear until it is guided into the lower
tie rod (16).
Check that the seal(s) are positioned correctly (9).
When inserting a supply plate, the plugs must be pulled apart so that the
supply plate does not occupy a slot when installed.
3. Carry out steps 11 to 15, as described under "Assembly".
If the D-Sub connection assignments have already been established, make
sure that the order of the plate valves stays the same in order to maintain
the connection assignments.
