Operation
This power tool is supplied from single-phase al-
ternating current mains only. It is double insulat-
ed according to EN 60745-1 and IEC 60745 and
can be connected to grounded or not grounded
sockets. This power tool is radio suppressed in
compliance with EMC Directive.
This power tool is designed for minor finish
processing of metals, plastics and wood by
means of abrasive wheels and HSS tools.
The straight grinder can be used for grinding,
cleaning burrs and welds and polishing. It is des-
ignated to operate with grinding wheels allowing
peripheral speed 45 m/s. Cylindrical collars Ø35
mm and Ø43 mm are shaped on the front of the
machine for attaching handles or other acces-
sories. Both models MKL 710CE and MKL 550E

are equipped with electronic regulator of rotation
speed for choosing the optimum duty. Model
MKL 710CE is equipped with electronic device
for sustaining constant speed under load.
PRIOR TO INITIAL OPERATION
▪ Make sure the power supply voltage corre-
sponds to the value indicated on the name
plate with technical data of the tool.
▪ Always check the position of ON/OFF switch.
The power tool must be connected to the
power supply socket only when this switch is
in OFF position. If the plug is connected to
a receptacle while the power switch is in the
ON position, the power tool will start operat-
ing immediately, which could cause a serious
accident.
▪ Make sure that the cord and the plug are in
order. If the replacement of the supply cord is
necessary, this has to be done by the manu-
facturer or his agent in order to avoid a safety
hazard.
WARNING: Always switch off and un-
plug the power tool prior to any adjustment,
servicing or maintenance or in case of mains
drop-out.
SWITCHING ON - SWITCHING Off
- Switching on: push the slider of ON/OFF switch
4 forward until its front end will sag, thus fixing
itself, and the symbol "I" will appear.
- Switching off: press the back, lifted end of the
switch 4 and release it to move back in its initial
position, thus revealing the symbol "O".
WARNING: In case ambient temper-
ature is lower than 0
C the grinder must be
o
switched on only in "G" position of the speed
electronic regulator. After several minutes
operation at no-load the grinder can be used
also in the rest regulator positions.
Do not cover ventilation slots with hand during
operation.
COLLET REPLACEMENT
To replace collet 2, take off nut 1 from spindle
3 and then move out the collet forward. Before
mounting the collet it is necessary to clean the
collet and the spindle aperture.
