11. Loudspeaker output Connections

11.1 Output wiring

Equalisation:
For use with active equalised BOSE
or the appropriate EQ cards. The EQ cards must be EQ card series II-s. To install the cards, make sure the
amplifier is disconnected from the mains before the top cover is removed. For instructions, please refer to
the EQ card manual which comes with the card.
Important:
Remove the appropriate jumper (JP2 or JP9) when placing an EQ card in one of the amplifier channels.
Failing to do so, may cause amplifier damages not covered by warranty. Also ensure that if two cards are
placed in Ch2 and Ch1 (or Ch4 and Ch3), they will not touch each other, to avoid a short circuit between
the EQ cards and possibly other damages.
Limiter:
The ENTERO 4250, 4500 and 4700 are equipped with a clipping limiter., acting at 1dB below clipping
®
level. Set (remove) jumper 6 (for Ch1 and/or Ch3) and/or 7 (for Ch2 and/or Ch4) to activate(de-activate)
the clipping limiter. (see also above picture).
A duo-LED on the front panel is used to indicate if the Limiter is activated (indicated by a green LED)
or not, see also chapter 9.
The clipping limiter is factory activated on all channels.
Depending on the ENTERO power amplifier model used: the impedance of the connected loudspeaker
®
line could be between 2 Ohm and 16 Ohm. In BRIDGE operation mode the minimal connected
impedance must be 4 Ohm. See chapter 14. Technical Data, for the minimum connected loudspeaker
impedance per channel for each ENTERO
Use heavy gauge wire for speaker connections. The greater the distance between the amplifier and the
speakers, the larger the diameter the wire should be. This will minimize power losses across the wire
and improve damping of the speaker. Wire thickness specifications (gauges) get larger as the wire gets
thinner. So a 14-gauge wire is thicker than 18-gauge wire.
