ENGLISH/INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1.
Select a well vascularized site in close proximity to the surgical site (anterior arm or thigh is recommended). Avoid placement on bony prominence,
skin lesions or folds, tattoos, scars, metal prosthesis or near ECG electrodes and cables. Do not apply where fluid may pool.
2.
Always use largest size pad per the patient weight guidelines which can be properly applied to the site:
SureFit Dual Dispersive electrodes are for use on patients weighing more than 2.2 kg provided there is sufficient surface area to ensure full
contact of the pad with the patient's skin.
3.
Prepare the skin at the application site according to facility protocol. If no protocol exists, clip excess hair at application site, clean and disinfect area
to remove oils, lotions, etc., and allow to dry thoroughly.
4.
Do not open package until ready to apply pad to skin. Inspect the pad and cable. Do not use if product is expired or apparently damaged.
Check expiration date on package.
5.
After patient is in the final position, carefully remove the pad from the disposable liner by grasping the pad from the pad pull tab (located at the wire
attachment end of the pad) and peeling the pad diagonally from the disposable liner. Avoid excess skin or finger contact with the adhesive or gel
surface prior to application.
6.
Pad may be applied with any side perpendicular to the direction of current flow from the operative site.
7.
Apply the pad firmly to skin, ensuring full adhesion of the pad gel and adhesive, and full pad contact with patient's skin.
8.
Attach the pad connector to the generator:
Pads with attached cables: Plug the dispersive electrode cable connector into the dispersive electrode receptacle of a Contact Quality
Monitor-capable electrosurgical generator. Initialize and operate the electrosurgical unit's monitoring circuit in accordance with the
electrosurgical generator manufacturer's instructions. If an adapter is needed, attach the cable to the adapter, then insert adapter into the
dispersive electrode receptacle.
Pads without attached cables: Inspect re-usable cable for breaks or damage. Open clamp by lifting lever arm and insert the connecting tab of
the pad fully into slot beneath the lever arm. Push the lever arm down into the closed, locked position. Insert reusable cable connector into the
dispersive pad receptacle of the electrosurgical unit.
9.
To remove the pad, gently support the skin surface and slowly peel away the pad.
10. Handle and dispose of used pads in accordance with hospital or facility protocols.
