1. GÉNÉRALITÉS
1.1 Application
The C.VV box is used for the automatic control of the boosters fitted
with two to four MULTI-HE, MULTI-VE or MULTI-VSE Salmson pumps with
integrated variable frequency drive. It is connected to a pressure
transmitter that delivers a suitable signal, and it controls the operation
of the pumps, with minimum noise level and energy consumption.
The pumps' performance is constantly adjusted in response to the ins-
tallation's pressure requirements.

2. SAFETY
These instructions must be read carefully before installation and com-
missioning. Particular care should be taken in respect of safe opera-
tion of the equipment by the intermediate or end user.
2.1 Warning symbols used in the manual
Potential danger to safety of persons.
Rules in respect of electricity.
Not heeding an instruction so marked may cause
damage to the equipment or cause it to operate
ATTENTION !
incorrectly.
2.2 Staff qualifications
The personnel involved in the installation of this electrical control-box
must have the necessary qualifications for this job.
2.3 Possible danger if safety instructions given are not adhered to
Not adhering to the safety instructions outlined in these instructions
can endanger persons and equipment, resulting in faults in the main
functions of the pumps or booster, and electrical and mechanical
risks for persons.
2.4 Safety instructions for the user
Regulations to prevent electrical or mechanical accidents must be
kept to.
All appropriate action must be taken to eliminate risks in respect of
electricity.
2.5 Safety instructions for the installation and inspection of the control
box
The user should take all measures to ensure that any inspection or ins-
tallation of the equipment is carried out by a competent and quali-
fied person, who has a good knowledge of this manual and is there-
fore sufficiently familiar with the operation in question.
Before any maintenance or repair work, switch off the power
to the C.VV electrical control-box.
2.6 Equipment changes - spare parts
Any changes to be made to the booster, the pumps or the box must
first be submitted for approval to the manufacturer. It is essential that

spare parts to be used are approved by the manufacturer.

3. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE

As soon as the equipment is delivered, check that it has not been
damaged in transit. If a fault is noticed, take all necessary action with
the carrier within the necessary time.
If the equipment being delivered is to be installed
ATTENTION !
later, store it in a dry area and protect it from
impacts and outside influences (moisture, frost, etc.).
Handle the unit with care.
4. PRODUCTS AND ACCESSORIES
4.1 Box description
4.1.1 Description of operation
The box allows a booster, included in the pumps fitted with electronic
variable speed drive, to be regulated and controlled. In such applica-
tions, the rotation speed, and consequently the pressure delivered by the
pumps, is regulated according to the signal from a pressure transmitter
connected to the pump discharge pipes. When the speed is varied, the
flow rate and the power produced by the pumps vary also. The pumps
stop and start according to the pressure required. There are control-
boxes for use with up tofour regulated pumps.
4.1.2 Construction of the box (See FIG. 1)
The control-box includes the following components :
• Section switch (See FIG. 2 - item 1) : this enables the supply voltage
to be selected and mains connection to be made.
• Basic board (See FIG. 4)
(item 1) - Control unit supply low voltage.
(item 2) - Microcontroller board connector.
(item 3) - Display board connector.
(item 4) - Connection terminal for input commands (external com-
mand signals) and output commands (pump and report command).
(item 5) - Forced operation switches for each pump.
(item 6) - Forced operation speed regulating potentiometer.
(item 7) - Optional separate reports board connector.
(item 8) - RS232 serial link connector.
• Microcontroller board (See FIG. 5)
(item 1) - Microprocessor.
(item 2) - EPROM and EEPROM program memory.
(item 3) - Box DIP configuration switches.
• Display board
Controls the liquid crystal display, the rotary push button used to
enter the parameters and the booster operating status diodes.
• Basic board and supply board control fuses
• Motor fuses
These protect the pumps individually against short-circuits on the
power line (with MULTI-VSE, these fuses are to be replaced with
manual reset motor circuit breakers).
4.1.3 Box operational modes
Normal operation
An electronic pressure transmitter indicates the instantaneous pressu-
re of the installation in the form of a signal for variable current of bet-
ween 4mA and 20mA. By comparing the value indicated with the
pre-set value, the regulator maintains a constant pressure in the ins-
tallation.
Except where of a "Remote stop" signal or a fault has been genera-
ted, a pump starts off according to the demand; its speed varies with
the flow rate required.
If the pump started in this way does not reach maximum speed to
meet the demand, another pump starts. The speed of this pump, in
turn, is regulated to adapt to the required pressure/flow rate for ope-
ration. The pump(s) started initially continue(s) to work at maximum
speed.
