personnel or an authorised REMS service shop before use. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with
sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these
instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to
be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended
could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
Slippery handles and gripping surfaces prevent safe handling and control of the
power tool in unforeseeable situations.
5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool
is maintained.
Safety instructions for electric pipe cleaning machines
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this power tool. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to
electric shock, fire and/or severe injuries.
Keep all safety notes and instructions for the future.
REMS Mini-Cobra S
● Observe the reaction torque of the drive unit to the spiral drum (10) and
operate the electric pipe cleaning machine only with both hands on the
side handle with thrust control (1) and switch handle (2). There is a risk of
injury.
● Only operate the electric pipe cleaning machine off the mains using a 30 mA
fault current protected switch (FI breaker). There is a danger of electric shock.
● Check the power cable of the electric pipe cleaning device and the exten-
sion leads regularly for damage. Have these renewed by qualified experts or
an authorised REMS customer service workshop in case of damage.
● When the cleaning spiral is retracted into the spiral drum (10), make sure
that the drive unit is switched off or the direction of feed of the pipe cleaning
spiral is switched over on the side handle with thrust control (1) before the
club head of the spiral runs into the thrust gear (12). The club head (6) will
otherwise be damaged and useless.
● Pay attention to the distance from the end of the pipe to the thrust gear
(12). The cleaning spiral can whiplash if the distance is too great (> 200 mm).
There is a risk of injury!
● Never let the pipe cleaning spiral run out of the thrust gear (12) without
feeding it into a pipe to be cleaned. The pipe cleaning spiral can whiplash.
There is a risk of injury.
● Wear rubber-soled shoes, e.g. Wellington boots, when working with the electric
pipe cleaning machine on a wet floor. These shoes have an insulating effect and
protect against possible electric shock.
● Do not use the electric pipe cleaning machine if it is damaged. There is a
danger of accident.
● Keep water away from electrical parts of the electric pipe cleaning machine
and from persons in the working area. There is a danger of electric shock.
● It could hit concealed electric cables when cleaning pipes, e.g. if the pipe
is damaged. There is a danger of electric shock.
● Children and persons who, due to their physical, sensory or mental abilities
or lack of experience and knowledge are unable to operate the electric pipe
cleaning machine safely may not use this electric pipe cleaning machine
without supervision or instruction by a responsible person. Otherwise there
is a risk of operating errors and injuries.
● Keep persons away from your working area. Do not let other persons, espe
cially children, touch the power tool or cable. Keep them away from your working
area.
● Keep unused power tools in a safe place. Power tools should be stored in a
dry, high or locked place out of the reach of children when not in use.
● Do not use low performance power tools for heavy-duty work. There is a
risk of injury.
● Only use approved and appropriately marked extension leads with a suffi-
cient cable cross-section. Use extension leads up to a length of 10 m with
cable crosssection 1.5 mm², from 10 – 30 m with cable crosssection 2.5 mm².
REMS Mini-Cobra
● Remove the crank handle (8) before using the pipe cleaning machine with
an electric drill/screwdriver (8). There is a risk of injury.
● Only use suitable electric drills/screwdrivers with electronic speed control
and observe the operating instructions of the electric drill/screwdriver.
There is a risk of injury.
● Never use/lock the fixing button of the electric drill's/screwdriver's on/off
switch. There is a risk of injury.
● Observe the reaction torque of the drive unit to the spiral drum (10) and
operate the electric pipe cleaning machine only with both hands on the
handle (7) and switch handle (2) the electric drill/screwdriver. There is a risk
of injury.
● Pay attention to the distance from the end of the pipe to the chuck. The
cleaning spiral can whiplash if the distance is too great (> 200 mm). There is a
risk of injury!
● Do not use drive units with quick stop. If the drive unit is shut down immediately,
the vibration torque of the still moving spiral drum (10) can knock over the unit.

Weighted effective value of acceleration
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration has been measured
against standard test procedures and can be used by way of comparison with
another device. The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can also
be used as a preliminary evaluation of the exposure.
CAUTION
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can differ during opera-
tion from the indicated value, dependent on the manner in which the device is
used. Dependent upon the actual conditions of use (periodic duty) it may be
necessary to establish safety precautions for the protection of the operator.

2.1. Electrical connection
WARNING
Caution: Mains voltage present! Before connecting the power tool, check
whether the voltage given on the rating plate corresponds to the mains voltage.
On building sites, in a wet environment, indoors and outdoors or under similar
installation conditions, only operate the power tool on the mains with a fault
current protection switch (FI switch) which interrupts the power supply as soon
as the leakage current to earth exceeds 30 mA for 200 ms.
