Shutting Off Your Appliance
1. When cooking is complete, you may choose to burn off any residual grease or food residue.
Simply turn the temperature control dial to 450F and run the unit for at least 10 minutes for
normal use or 20 minutes for foods that resulted in high amounts of grease. Burning the residue
after cooking will minimize the risk of a grease fire the next time the grill is used. Be sure to set
a timer for the desired burn-off, so you can resume the rest of the shut-down process.
WARNING: DO NOT leave the flywheel open, when performing a burn-off.
2. Turn the dial to "Shut Down Cycle", but DO NOT press the power button. The control panel will
display "OFF", but the fan will continue to blow air into the fire pot to extinguish the pellets. Allow
the unit to run, until the shut-down cycle is complete. Unplug the unit, once the shut-down cycle
is complete.
WARNING! DO NOT PRESS THE POWER BUTTON OR UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE WHILE THE
FAN IS STILL WORKING ON THE SHUT DOWN CYCLE. THE GRILL WILL AUTOMATICALLY
SHUT OFF WHEN THE CYCLE IS COMPLETE. INTERRUPTION OF THE SHUT DOWN CYCLE
COULD RESULT IN A FIRE IN THE HOPPER CHAMBER.
Wait until the unit has completely cooled before placing a cover or moving the unit to storage.
Clearing The Hopper
Removing the pellets from the hopper may be
necessary, if inclement weather or high humidity
is expected. To empty the hopper simply locate
the rear hatch on the back of the hopper.
Before opening the hatch, hold a container near
the opening to prevent pellets from falling to the
ground. Slowly open the hatch and allow the
pellets to exit the hopper. Ensure that the hatch
is completely closed, after clearing the hopper.
Ash Removal
Ash will accumulate in the fire pot during and after each use. Always inspect the fire pot before
use. Always wait until the ashes are completely cooled before removing. Ashes should be placed
in a metal container with a tight fitting lid. The closed container of ashes should be placed on a
noncombustible floor or on the ground, well away from all combustible materials, pending final
disposal. If the ashes are disposed of by burial in soil or otherwise locally dispersed, they should be
retained in the closed container until all cinders have thoroughly cooled.
