6.4 Validate the probe calibration
Chemical exposure hazard. Obey laboratory safety procedures and wear all of the personal protective
equipment appropriate to the chemicals that are handled. Refer to the current safety data sheets
(MSDS/SDS) for safety protocols.
Chemical exposure hazard. Dispose of chemicals and wastes in accordance with local, regional and
national regulations.
Ultraviolet (UV) light exposure. Exposure to UV light can cause eye and skin damage. Do not look
directly into the measurement path when probe is in operation. Protect eyes and skin from direct
exposure to UV light. Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment.
Do the steps that follow to validate the probe calibration.
1. Remove the probe from the tank or flow through unit.
2. Rinse the measuring path with distilled water.
3. Prepare the probe as follows:
a. Use sticky tape to close the back hole of the measuring path. Refer to the illustrated steps in
Figure
9.
Note: It is recommended to use double sided tape to prevent chemical reaction with NO2.
b. Turn the probe until the measuring path is in the horizontal position.
c. Fill the measuring path with standard solution.
4. Go to the signals menu as follows:
• SC200 and SC1000 Controllers—Go to the main menu, then select Sensor setup >
DIAG/TEST > Signals.
• SC4500 Controller and Claros interface—Select the tile of the device, then select Device
menu > Diagnostic/Test > Signals.
5. Examine the values that show on the controller display:
• The first line (NT3200sc first 3 lines) shows the value with the customer set offset, factor and
signal average.
• The values without the factor and offset calibration follow, including matrix calibration for the
NT3200sc, if done.
The measurements and wiper movements are made automatically at an interval of approximately
5 seconds.
Note: If the sensor is installed in a flow through unit, remove the sensor from the flow through unit before a
validation with a standard is done.
6. Install the probe in the tank or flow through unit.
7. Select Back.
8. Complete the instructions on the display.
