PACKING GLAND
If there is internal pressure in a valve, it is a gen-
eral rule that the packing gland must not be
removed. However, if the following precaution-
ary measures are taken the packing gland can
be removed with the valve still under pressure:
BACKSEATING (FIG. 6)
To backseat the valve, turn the spindle anticlock-
wise until the valve is fully open.
PRESSURE EQUALIZING (FIG. 7)
In some cases pressure is formed behind the
packing gland. Therefore fix a handwheel or a
big washer plate on top of the spindle while the
pressure is equalized. The pressure is equalized
by slowly unscrewing the packing gland.

REMOVAL OF PACKING GLAND (FIG. 8)
Handwheel/washer plate and packing gland can
now be removed.
REPLACEMENT OF O-RINGS
AND GASKET (FIG. 9)
Replace the O-rings and gasket of the packing
gland by original Danfoss O-rings and gaskets or
change the complete packing gland. If there are
marks of blow on the spindle it must be
replaced.
LUBRICATION (FIG. 10)
To achieve the optimal tightness the rail in the
middle of the packing gland must be filled with
original grease supplied by Danfoss (part. No.
2452+143).
Tightening of packing gland (fig. 11).

DISASSEMBLAGE OF THE VALVE (FIG. 12)
OBS: Do not remove the top part, while the
valve is still under pressure.
Check that the O-ring (Pos. A) is undamaged.
The teflon cone ring cannot be replaced. If the
teflon cone ring is damaged, the cone must be
replaced.
REPLACEMENT OF THE CONE (FIG. 13)
Unscrew the cone screw (Pos. D) by means of an
Allen wrench NV 2 (part of Danfoss's set of gas-
kets). Remove the balls (Pos. E – 10 or 14 balls
depending on the valve size). Now the cone can
be removed. Place a new cone on the spindle
and readd the balls. Screw on the cone screw
and be sure that it is flush with the surface of
the cone. If the cone is replaced more than
once, it is necessary to use Loctite No. 648 to be
sure that the cone screw is properly fastened.
