2. INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION
The instrument has the features described below:
• RPM speed measurements without contact
• rPm speed measurements with contact
• HZ frequency rotation measurements with/without contact
• M/Min, Inch/Min, Ft/Min and Yd/Min surface speed measurements
• M, In, Ft and Yd length measurements
• Revolutions counter number (REV)
• MAX/MIN/AVG functions
• Laser pointer for measurements without contact
• Saving and recalling results on the display
• Backlight
The instrument consists in two internal units which perform all measurements. The
emitting unit uses a red LED to emit a ray of light which is reflected by the reflecting tape
applied on the surface of the object being tested and is received by receiving unit (see §
5.1). For contact measurements, the reflecting tape is fixed inside the removable adapter.
It is recommenced that the reflecting surface should be perpendicular to the
emitting/receiving unit to obtain the best measurement results. Unscrew and remove the
mechanical adapter (see Fig. 1 – part 1) to perform non-contact measurements.
3. PREPARATION FOR USE
3.1.
INITIAL CHECKS
This instrument has been checked mechanically and electrically prior to shipment. Every
care has been taken to ensure that the instrument reaches you undamaged. However, it is
wise to carry out a rapid check in order to detect any possible damage which might have
been caused during transport. Should this be the case, immediately enter the usual claims
with the courier. Check the content of packaging against the packaging list reported in §
7.4. In case of discrepancies, please contact the dealer. In the event of re-shipment of the
equipment, please follow the instructions reported in § 8.
3.2.
POWER SUPPLY
The instrument is powered by a single 9V alkaline battery type IEC6F22 included in the
package. When the battery is low, the symbol "
or replacement, please follow the instructions indicated in § 6.2. The instrument can also
be supplied via an external power supply with output voltage between 6V and 9VDC, max
1A (see § 7.2), commonly available on the market.
3.3.
STORAGE
In order to guarantee the accuracy of measurements, after a period of storage under
extreme environmental conditions, wait for the time necessary for the instrument to return
to normal measuring conditions (see § 7.3).
