2. Before preparing coffee for the first
time
• Make sure that the supply voltage in your household
complies with the voltage specified on the type
plate on the bottom of the appliance.
• Install the appliance on a dry, flat and stable surface.
• Only connect the appliance to a correctly installed
earthed mains socket.
• When the cable is not needed, you can store it in
the cable compartment .
• All appliances are tested for proper working order
during production. This may leave behind traces of
water, for example.
• Rinse the appliance twice with clean water before
preparing coffee for the first time. Do not use any
filters while doing so and proceed as follows:
• Activate the appliance. Press and hold the BREW
button longer (> 1 sec.). The BREW button starts
to flash rapidly.
• Fill the water tank up to the 8-cup mark. You can fill
the removable tank directly from the tap .
Alternatively, you can also fill water directly into
the tank in the appliance by using the glass jug .
You can read the required quantity of water from
the scale on the tank .
• Place the filter in its position at the top right on
the appliance housing underneath the outlet
and start the appliance by briefly pressing
(< 1 sec.) the BREW button. The BREW button
will now flash slowly. After a brief warm-up period
for the heater, water will flow out of the outlet
into the filter.
• A signal tone will indicate that the water has
flowed through completely. Empty the jug and
switch off the keep-warm plate by pressing the
BREW button longer (>1 sec.).
• Repeat the described steps one more time. After a
brief cooling period, you can then use the appliance
to prepare coffee for the first time.
3. Coffee preparation
3.1 Preparation
• Remove the lid from the bean container and fill the
bean container with whole, roasted coffee beans .
Then fit the lid again. Eight cups of coffee can be
prepared two to three times with one complete
bean container filling.
• Notes: To ensure perfect functioning of the grinder,
do not use any caramelised or very oily beans. Do
not pour ground coffee into the bean container.
• Fill the water tank with the required water quantity.
You can fill the removable tank directly from the tap .
Alternatively, you can also fill water directly into the
tank in the appliance by using the glass jug . You
can read the required quantity of water from the
scale on the tank .
• Note: If you are unable to start brewing and hear
three short signal sounds despite a full water tank,
briefly raise the water tank and place it back onto
the appliance. This removes air bubbles which may
possibly form during filling.
®
• Pull the filter holder horizontally from its mounting
and insert the filter paper . For good flavour and
optimum fitting in the filter holder, we recommend
using Melitta
• Place the filter holder prepared in this way on the
left in the housing recess on the silicone mat under
the mill .
3.2 Grinding
• Activate the mill with a long push on the GRIND
button. The LED display for the BREW button
starts to flash rapidly. Set the required quantity of
coffee by briefly pressing the cup selector switch .
With each push, the corresponding LED display
switches to the next highest number of cups. The
required coffee quantity is therefore indirectly set
via the mill grinding time.
• Make sure that the number of cups that you select
corresponds with the quantity of water in the water
tank. Please note that all of the water in the water
tank is consumed during coffee preparation. If the
number of cups and the quantity of water do not
match, this can lead to unsatisfactory coffee results.
• In addition, the strength can be varied individually
for any number of cups. The respective LED display
