Introduction
The SILENT flow sensor is used to monitor the flow rate at a suction point for workbenches where dust
is suctioned For dust detection units that are tested and recognized in accordance with GS-IFA-M20, a
minimum flow rate is defined that must be reached for correct operation.
The minimum flow rates currently used (15 l/s, 20 l/s, 25 l/s) can be defined on the SILENT flow sensor.
25 l/s must be defined in the case of a suction point that is not certified.
If the minimum flow rate that is defined is not reached, the SILENT flow sensor outputs a warning signal.
The SILENT flow sensor is not suitable for use with, e.g., sandblasters!

Intended use
The area of application of the SILENT flow sensor is with extraction systems that are installed at dental
technician workbenches where restorations are processed using dental handpieces
The SILENT flow sensor can be used together with one of the following extraction units in the SILENT
range:
• SILENT compact
• SILENT TS / TS2
• SILENT TC / TC2 / EC2
within the scope of measures to protect against exposure to dust *) as defined by the German ordinance
on hazardous substances ("GefStoffV") / respective employers' liability insurance association.
In doing so, both the instructions for use of the SILENT flow sensor as well as those of the ex-
traction unit must be observed, particularly with regard to low-dust disposal of the extracted
material and filter replacement.
*) Note for customers in Germany: A validated and recognized dust protection measure in accordance with testing
principle GS-IFA-M20 (issued by the German Institute for Work and Health IFA) shall only be deemed to have
been provided when all components, i.e. the flow rate monitoring unit such as the SILENT flow sensor, the ex-
traction unit, and the detection unit, are validated and recognized In the case of multi-workbench extraction units
and the use of Y-junctions or extractor switches, every suction channel / every suction point must be fitted with a
flow rate monitoring unit.
