To remove the trimmer head
1. Remove the battery pack from the trimmer.
2. Press the release tabs on the trimmer head
and remove the lower cover of the trimmer
head by pulling it straight out (Fig. 22).
3. Remove the cutting line from the trimmer
head.
4. Take the spring out of the lower cover,
if necessary. Keep it in a safe place for
reassembly.
5. Wear gloves. Use one hand to grasp the
spool assembly to stabilize it and use
the other hand to hold a socket wrench
(not included) to loosen the nut in a
counterclockwise direction (Fig. 23).
6. Remove the nut, outer gasket, spool
retainer, inner gasket, and upper cover
from the motor shaft.
7. Use circlip pliers (not included) to remove
the circlip, and then remove the shroud
from the motor shaft. (Fig. 24).
8. Replace with a new trimmer head and
mount it by following the steps below.
To install the new trimmer head
1. Align the key slot in the shroud assembly
with the spline in the motor shaft and mount
the shroud assembly into place.
2. Use circlip pliers (not included) to mount
the circlip.
3. Mount the upper cover, inner gasket, spool
retainer, outer gasket, nut. Use an impact
wrench (not included) to tighten the nut.
4. With one hand holding the trimmer, use
another hand to grasp the lower cover
assembly and align the slots in the lower
cover assembly with the release tabs.
Press the lower cover assembly until it
snaps into place, at which time you will
hear a distinct click sound (Fig. 20).
5. Follow "CUTTING LINE RELOADING"
section in this manual to reload the cutting
line.
6. Start the tool to see whether the string
trimmer will work normally. If it does not,
reassemble as described above.
Cleaning the Trimmer
Remove the battery.
•
Clear any grass that may have wrapped itself around the motor shaft or trimmer head.
•
Use a small brush or a small vacuum cleaner to clean the air vents.
