Attachment of Skull Clamp to the MAYFIELD Inifinity XR2 Tri-Star Swivel Adaptor
1. Install Inifinity XR2 Tri-Star Swivel Adaptor to the base unit link arm as previously described.
2. Insert and turn the clamp knob into the threaded hole on the skull clamp. Then turn the internal
locking knob clockwise a few turns to make certain it is engaged. Be sure the two sets of
starburst teeth mesh properly.
3. Rotation of the swivel adaptor dual starburst bar is accomplished by turning the internal locking
knob counterclockwise. This unlocks the dual starburst bar to allow it to rotate.
4. Rotate the dual starburst bar to the desired position. Next, turn the internal locking knob
clockwise to lock in position.
Before fully tightening, always be certain that the starburst teeth of the Swivel
Adaptor and other starburst fittings are the same size and properly mesh. Failure to
do so may damage fittings. Figure 3 shows a typical starburst connection and proper
meshing of teeth.
The unit should be checked to ensure that it has been properly locked in position. In
the locked position, pressure applied in either direction to the skull clamp WILL NOT
result in movement of the Inifinity XR2 Tri-Star Swivel Adaptor.
