2.0 InTROdUCTIOn

This microscope is a scientific precision instrument designed to last for many years with a minimum
of maintenance. It is built to high optical and mechanical standards and to withstand daily classroom
and laboratory use.
The OPTIKA LAB series microscopes are high performance greenough stereo microscopes with
objectives x or 4x (LAB-10) or a continuous zoom 0,7x-4,x (LAB-0). Total magnification varies
from ,x to 7,x depending on the eyepieces and auxiliary objectives used. With this parfocal sys-
tem, the user can enjoy excellent depth of field and stereo effect to be able to examine all types of
gross materials in three dimensions for industrial, biological and educational applications.
Optika reminds you that this manual contains important information on safety and maintenance, and

3.0 UnPACKInG And ASSeMBLY

3.1 The microscope is housed in a moulded styrofoam container. Remove the tape from the
edge of the container and lift the top half of the container. Take some care to avoid that
the optical items fall out and get damaged. using both hands (one around the arm and one
around the base), lift the microscope from the container and put it on a stable desk. Be care-
ful not to touch any of the lens surfaces.
3.2 Loosen the lock screw of the focusing carrier, adjust the height of the focusing carrier and
lock the lock screw again.
