Let's start. The batteries are the air that your LC-A+ breathes. So unpack them, wipe the
contacts and put them in the Battery Compartment
[1]
at the bottom of your LC-A+.
They should all face in the same direction with the "+" side matching up against the little
"+" sign inside the compartment. They should always fit snugly inside. If they don't,
then bend the metal contact slightly using something small and sharp (like a penknife or
a screwdriver). Check that the batteries are working by looking through the viewfinder
and pressing lightly on the Shutter Release [2]. The left-side lamp in the viewfinder is the
Battery Check Light [3], and it should glow bright red. If the light does not glow, then
check to see if you have loaded the batteries correctly. Your batteries should last for several
months but will eventually need to be changed. If you notice that the battery check light
has gone off, or that your Shutter
[8]
has stopped firing (pictures are black), then it's time
to get some new batteries. Your LOMO takes three 1.5 V button cells, which are desig-
nated type LR44 or A76.

Open the Rear Door
[4]
of your LC-A+ by pulling up on the Rewind Crank
[5]
with the
Rewind Lever [22], both situated on the top left of your camera (seen from behind). Now
slide the Lens Cover Switch
[6]
over to reveal the lens, turn the Advance Wheel
[7]
to
cock the shutter and use the Shutter Release
[2]
to fire a shot. You will find the Shutter
[8]
can be seen (looking through the lens from the back or the front of your LC-A+) to open
for a moment.
