12. Fault finding
DANGER
Electric shock
Death or serious personal injury
- Switch off the power supply before
starting any work on the product. Make
sure that the power supply cannot be
accidentally switched on.
Fault
1.
The pump does
not start.
2.
There is power on
the pressure
switch but not on
the pump.
3.
The pump does
not start when
water is
consumed.
4.
Frequent starts
and stops.
5.
The pump does
not stop.
6.
The motor cuts out
during operation.

Alternatively, contact the nearest Grundfos company or service workshop.
Cause
a)
The fuses in the electrical
installation have blown.
b)
The voltage-operated circuit
breaker or current-operated
circuit breaker has tripped.
a)
The power supply to the pump is
disconnected after the pressure
switch.
b)
The pressure switch is defective. Repair or replace the pressure switch.*
a)
The difference in height between
the pressure switch and the
tapping point is too large.
b)
The pressure switch is defective. Repair or replace the pressure switch.*
a)
Leakage in the pipes.
b)
The pressure tank has no
precharge pressure, or the tank
size is insufficient.
a)
The pressure switch is defective.
a)
Single-phase motors:
The thermal switch in the motor
has tripped due to overheating.
b)
Three-phase motors:
The motor-protective circuit
breaker has tripped.
Remedy
Replace the fuses. If the new fuses also
blow, check the electrical installation.
Cut in the circuit breaker and check the
electrical installation.
Check the cable connections.
Adjust the cut-in pressure.
Check and repair the pipes.
Check the tank precharge pressure, and
recharge the tank, if necessary. See section
8.2 Adjusting the precharge
Repair or replace the pressure switch.*
The thermal switch cuts in automatically
when the motor has cooled.
If the problem still persists, check these two
possible causes:
• The impeller is stuck.
Clean the pump.
• The motor is defective.
Repair or replace the motor.*
Cut in the motor-protective circuit breaker.
