No sound is output from the speaker. The sound is distorted.
e Check the connections with the D/A converter, the amp and the
speaker (page 10).
e Change the digital output setting to the connector that is being
used (page 27).
e Adjust the volume of the amp, for example.
e If the disc is dirty, wipe it clean (page 9).
e No sound is output when the unit is paused. Press the play (t)
button to resume ordinary playback.
The digital audio of a Super Audio CD cannot be output.
e In order to output the digital audio of a Super Audio CD, you
must use an Esoteric D/A converter (D1, D-02, D-05, D-03 or
D-01).
The CLOCK indicator continues blinking and does not stay lit
normally.
e If a clock signal is not being input, set the clock mode to OFF
(page 28).
e A signal with which the unit cannot be synchronized might be
being input. Check the connections of the clock input connec-
tors and the settings of the connected device.
"CLOCK!" appears on the display.
e There is a problem with the clock setting or a connection. See
"Clock mode setting" on page 28 and "Clock input connector
setting" on page 28 about the clock setting and "Connections
(main unit)" on page 10 about connections.
"TRAY!" appears on the display when the disc tray opens and
closes.
e "TRAY!" appears on the display if something is blocking the front
of the disc tray, the disc is not loaded properly or the tray stops
during opening or closing. Press the tray open/close (-) but-
ton after removing the cause to return the tray to its original
position.
This unit uses a microprocessor, so noise and other external interfer-
ence could cause it to stop functioning properly. In such a case, turn
the unit off and wait about one minute before restarting operation
from the beginning.
Note about condensation
If this unit is brought from a cold outdoor environment into a
warm room, or the heater has just been turned on in the room
where it is located, for example, condensation might occur on
operating parts or lenses, resulting in improper operation. If this
occurs, leave the unit on and wait 1-2 hours. This should enable
normal playback.

Maintenance

Use a soft dry cloth to wipe the surfaces of the units clean.
For stubborn smudges, use a damp cloth that has been thoroughly
wrung out to remove excess moisture.
V For safety, disconnect the power plug from the outlet
before wiping the units.
o Never spray liquid directly on these units.
o Do not use chemically-treated wipes, thinner or similar substances
because they could damage the surfaces of the units.
o Avoid allowing rubber or plastic materials to touch the units for
long periods of time, because they could damage the cabinets.
