Cleaning operations must be carried out with care not to unbalance the impeller or fan wheel, or damage elements of
the system. Consider any specifi cations that may be provided in the corresponding manuals.

1.4. WARRANTY
Any addition or removal of elements to the unit, and any intervention on the original wiring without prior authorization
from S&P is prohibited as this would result in the invalidation of the warranty. S&P is not responsible for equipment that
has been modifi ed, repaired or disassembled, even if partially.
In the event that the electrical connection does not correspond to that described in these instructions and / or the ins-
tallation regulations, this in turn will result in the invalidation of the warranty.
This unit must be used in accordance with the manufacturer's specifi cations. Otherwise, its intended purpose could be
compromised.
The supplied unit's warranty is valid for 24 months from the invoice date.
The following are excluded from the warranty: faults related to abnormal use or in disagreement with the recommenda-
tions in the S&P manuals, defects derived from use and time, incidents due to negligence, not monitoring or maintaining
correctly, defects derived from poor installation equipment or incorrect storage prior to installation.
2. PRESENTATION OF THE PRODUCT
2.1. RANGES AND VERSIONS
differential in a protected space. DUAL versions are designed for when a back-up standby fan is necessary. Additionally,
they allow both automatic and manual opening of motorised MD dampers, provided with optical smoke detectors, all in
accordance with the EN 12101-6 standard.
They are compact in design and can be installed in any area of the building, and have a wide range of series power and
supply voltages for the associated fans.
M range; Single phase supply and three phase output (230V II/230V III), from 0,75kW to 2,2kW.
T range; Three phase supply and output (400V III + N/ 400V III), from 0,75kW to 7,5kW.
Other kW requirements on demand.
Models, specifi cations and dimensions described in Fig. 2 and Tabl. 1.
For operation of the PDS CONTROL MD series from a remote location (building access for example) as requested by
some authorities, consider the corresponding PDS REM MD accessories.
3. PDS CONTROL DESCRIPTION
3.1. SYSTEM OPERATION
Description of the front panel and bottom cap for connexions and cable glandes in Fig. 2, Tabl.2 and Tabl.3.
The PDS CONTROL units incorporate, among others, a pressure sensor and a frequency inverter with specifi c program-
ming. Associated with fans and MD dampers, together with the rest of the elements and maneuvers, they allow auto-
matic control of airfl ow and pressure for pressure differential systems. In the event of signifi cant amounts of smoke
being present in the make-up air, the damper will close and the fan will stop. For the MD2 versions, which control two
MD dampers, the system will not stop due to smoke entry until smoke is detected in both dampers.
System activation can be automatic through fi re detection panels, or via timed schedule for daily ventilation. However,
fi re detection will always take priority.
They are equipped with a key-locked switch (5), and selectors (A), (4) and (4a) on the front panel that also allow manual
control of the system, including the dampers, for fi refi ghters.
The positions of these switches will determine the mode of operation of the unit, as described below.
3.1.1. AUTO (default position)
Unit remains in standby, waiting for an external activation signal (fi re, time programming, remote activation...); the
green indicator (6) is lit.
Make sure that the unit is in this position after any commissioning, maintenance or inspection work, and that the
green indicator (6) is the only one lit. It is the only position in which the system will respond to an external fi re signal.
The system has a built-in delay prior to its activation in fi re mode, to avoid false alarms or rebound of external signals.
If the fi re signal is maintained more than 2 seconds the red indicator (9) will light up, indicating the fi re mode, and the
white indicator (B, or B and Bb in the MD2 versions) will fl ash, indicating that the MD damper is opening. When the
damper is suffi ciently open, the fan will run, illuminating the white indicator (7 or 7a), and it will operate according to
the pressure sensor readings without interruption. When the damper is fully open, the white indicator (B or B and Bb in
the MD2 versions) will remain lit. In the MD2 version, both dampers open simultaneously.
In the DUAL versions, each time the system activates automatically, the fans will activate in alternate turns. This contri-
