butes to the periodic activation of both fans, and to the automatic review of good fan commutation. If the VSD detected a
fault in the activated fan, it would stop it and automatically activate the standby one.
In the event of signifi cant amounts of smoke appearing in the make-up air, the MD damper will close and the fan will
stop. The yellow indicator (C or Cb, depending on the damper and model) will light up, indicating the presence of smoke.
For MD2 versions, which control two MD dampers, the system does not stop if there is no detection in both.
In AUTO mode, the selectors for manual fan speed control, fan switching or forcing the opening of the MD dampers
do not respond. To do this, the ON mode in SYSTEM CONTROL must be selected.
To stop the system (OFF), or switch to manual control (ON), the key supplied with the unit must be used. The key can
only be removed in the AUTO position.
3.1.2. OFF/RESET (requires key)
System stopped, deactivated; will not respond to any type of external or manual signal. It acts as a manual STOP for
fi refi ghters. The yellow FAULT indicator (8) is lit as a visual reminder that the system will not respond to external sig-
nals, such as fi re. The MD dampers will remain closed.
To RESET the unit after a fi re mode operation, hold the switch in the (OFF) position for a few seconds (the fi re indicator
(9) will turn off), and then return to the (AUTO) position. The green indicator (6) will light up, and the PDS CONTROL MD
will be ready to respond to an emergency again. In case the fi re signal persists, the system will re-activate its fi re mode.
This position is reserved for fi refi ghters. However, it is also useful for the commissioning or maintenance stages,
allowing the stops and resets that may be necessary.
3.1.3. ON (requires key)
The white indicator (B, or B and Bb in the MD2 versions) will fl ash, indicating that the MD damper is opening. When the
damper is suffi ciently open, the fan will run at the speed indicated by the MIN / MAX selector (4). The white (7 or 7a) and
the green (6) indicators will light up. In the DUAL version, which fan is activated will depend on the position of the fan
selector (4a). When the damper is fully open, the white indicator (B, or B and Bb in the MD2 versions) will remain lit. On
the MD2 versions, both dampers open simultaneously.
Remember that in the ON position, the system will not respond to external signals such as fi re.
This position is reserved for fi refi ghters. However, it is also useful for the commissioning or maintenance stages, for
example, allowing the minimum airfl ow to be regulated for the doors closed scenario, or the air velocity criteria through
open doors.
See commissioning section for more information on this.

** These units are suitable for operation at 50 / 60Hz input or output frequencies, although it is essential that the
frequency associated with the fans does not exceed the one indicated on their nameplate. Increasing the output
frequency above the fan rating voids the S&P warranty. See the corresponding fan manual for more information.
See Commissioning section for more information on the parameters of this unit.
PDS REM accessory note: The PDS REM MD series replicate the front panel of the corresponding PDS CONTROL MD.
Its operation is identical.
