Important: The SELECTOR supplied with the PDS REM MD serves to avoid confl icting commands in the ventilation sys-
tem. It is recommended to install it next to the PDS CONTROL MD unit, in a position that enables the PDS REM MD. If
direct operation of the front panel of the PDS CONTROL MD is required, the position of the SELECTOR should be chan-
EN
ged. Otherwise, the front panel of the PDS CONTROL MD will not respond.
MD DAMPER FAULT: In the event that an end-of-stroke signal from the MD damper does not reach the PDS CONTROL
MD, after three attempts it will be blocked due to damper fault, and the B and C, or Bb and Cb indicators will fl ash. The
MD damper must then be manually opened locally. Once open, a RESET of the PDS CONTROL must be carried out. After
this, return the selector to the AUTO or ON position, as appropriate depending on the scenario.
4. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
4.1. PRIOR CONSIDERATIONS
Do not manipulate or make connections to the unit other than what is specifi ed in this instruction manual.
Before connecting the PDS CONTROL MD unit to the main supply, make sure that the internal general switch of the
unit is turned off, and the SYSTEM CONTROL selector is in the OFF position. Access the cabinet using the black double
bar key.
The power supply for the PDS CONTROL units, depending on the model, will be single-phase 230V (L – N), or three-pha-
se 400V (R-S-T-N). The output supply to the fan will be three-phase. The use of a VSD implies the need to make a correct
earth connection (use the earth terminal block of the VSD). Also, it is recommended to install a suitable differential
switch. However, local electrical and fi re protection regulations should be followed and the authorities should be con-
sulted if in doubt.
The automatic activation signal of the PDS CONTROL will always be made through a volt-free contact, coming from a fi re
detection panel (shall be maintained for a few seconds) or from an external control system. It is recommended to read
the electrical connection instructions before any handling or connection of the unit.
The connection to the fan and MD dampers must be carried out following the indications defi ned in their corres-
ponding terminal box labels. All fans have a sticker that describes the correct sense of rotation. In the event that the
motor rotates in reverse, a phase must be properly reversed. For more information on the fans or dampers refer to their
respective O+M manuals.
4.2. CABLE TYPES AND SECTION REFERENCE
The electrical cables for pressure differential systems must be certifi ed in accordance with the applicable local regula-
tions, in terms of fi re protection if necessary, and with a section according to the intensity of the units.
Tabl.2 may be considered for reference on the type of cable. Tabl.4 may provide reference for cable length based on the
unit's power, for 400V supply , considering the PDS CONTROL MD has a default value of SOP = 10.
4.3. CABLE GLANDS AND CONNECTIONS
All the connections of the PDS CONTROL MD are made through its labelled removable bottom cap, for ease of insta-
llation and contribute to greater water tightness of the unit. The second MOTOR gland, or a second set of DAMPER and
SENSOR, are present in the DUAL and MD2 versions respectively.
Fig. 3 and Tabl.3 contain the necessary info on the cable glands.
Additional notes:
• (+,-) for pressure sensor. 4-6mm diameter tubes shall be used (not included).
• OTHER; for monitoring signals, weekly schedule controller or Modbus communication.
• PDS REM & SELECTOR (optional accessories for remote control of the unit), labelled for reference, in case these are
installed. See PDS REM MD instructions manual for more info.
Tabl. 5, Tabl. 6, Tabl. 7 and Tabl. 8 show the connection terminals for the MD, MD2, MD DUAL and MD2 DUAL versions.
Please read the notes below, common to all models:
• L-N / R-S-T-N: Input power to the VSD; single-phase 230V or three-phase 400V+N.
• U-V-W: Output power for the motor (fan); three-phase 230V or 400V.
• (+1)-(+)-(+0): Confi gurable terminals; to enable PDS REM accessory, cut the bridge between (+1) y (+).
• (+0)-(0): Input. Volt-free contact, for signal from fi re detection panel. A bridge can be made to simulate a fi re signal in
commissioning tests or maintenance tasks.
Once the connection is complete, the internal switches of the PDS CONTROL MD can be activated. However, to avoid
possible start of the associated fan or damper, the mode switch should remain in the OFF position.
