GENERAL
This instruction manual is to pro-
vide information for Replacement
Motor Cartridges designed for
Johnson Pump Marine 500 GPH
and 800 GPH Cartridge Bilge
Pump and Cartridge Aerator
Pump series.
These replacement motors
cartridgdes can be retrofit into
the legacy cartridge series prod-
uct that uses Red color pump
housings. This new generation of
replacement motor cartridge will
offer upgraded performance with-
out the need to replace excisting
hardware already installtion in
hard-to-reach locations of your
boat. Simply remove existing mo-
tor cartridge following the reverse
of the previous instructions, and
follow the latest instructions
provided in this manual.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
1. Connect the brown wire to
an appropriate sized fuse,
then to the positive (+)
terminal of the battery or
switch output.
2. Connect the black wire to the
negative (-) terminal of the
battery or common ground.
3. Do not cut back insulation
more than necessary.
Insulation or cable sheathings
have to be removed in such a
way that
they end well above the
highest bilge water level.
IMPORTANT NOTE
When splicing a new motor into
an existing harness, the wire
connections should be sealed
with a marine sealant or approved
watertight connection to prevent
wire corrosion.
TO REMOVE OR REPLACE
MOTOR CARTRIDGE

1. Push down and rotate
the top cover in a counter
clockwise direction and
lift out.
2. To reinstall, first make sure
that the o-ring seal is properly
located. Coat the o-ring seal
with Food Grade Synthetic
Grease (NSF H1), then align
the two cams on either side
of the motor cartridge with
the two slots in the outer
housing.
3. Press down firmly and twist
in a clockwise rotation until
the lock-notch clicks securely
into the lock groove position.
