Battery
To start with a dead battery
Note:
Battery power is necessary to run the fuel pump
for the EFI system.
If the battery power is too low, do 1 of these steps:
•
Charge the battery, refer to
page 21 .
•
Connect the product to an external power source,
such as the battery to a different vehicle .
Battery maintenance
Note:
The battery on your product is maintenance
free. Do not open or remove the caps or the covers.
To charge the battery
Note:
Before long term storage, charge the battery
with a battery charger to extend the life of the battery.
1. Remove the battery cover. Refer to
battery on page 21 .
2. Clean the terminals. Refer to
and the terminals on page 21 .
3. Connect the battery charger to the battery charger
connector (A). (Fig. 79)

4. When the battery is charged, disconnect the battery
charger.
5. Install the battery cover.
To replace the battery
WARNING:
not let metal objects touch the 2 battery
terminals. This can cause a short circuit of
the battery.
1. Loosen the knob (A), then tilt the bottom of the cover
in the direction of the engine. Lift the battery cover
off the holders (B). (Fig. 80)
2. Disconnect the BLACK battery cable.
WARNING:
be disconnected first.
3. Disconnect the RED battery cable.
4. Loosen the nuts and remove the battery strap.
5. Carefully remove the battery from the product.
6. Install a new battery.

9. Install the battery cover.
To clean the battery and the terminals
1. Remove the battery. Refer to
on page 21 .
2. Flush the battery with plain water and let it become
dry.
3. Clean the terminals and battery cable ends with a
wire brush until they are bright.
4. Lubricate the terminals with grease.
5. Install the battery. See
page 21 .
6. Install the battery cover.
Muffler
The muffler keeps the noise levels to a minimum and
sends the exhaust fumes away from the operator.
Do not use the product if the muffler is missing or
damaged. A damaged muffler increases the noise level
and the risk of fire.
WARNING:
hot during and after use and when the
engine operates at idle speed. Be careful
near flammable materials and/or fumes to
prevent fire.
To examine the spark plug
CAUTION:
recommended spark plug type. Incorrect
spark plug type can cause damage to the
product.
•
Examine the spark plug if the engine is low on
power, is not easy to start or does not operate
correctly at idle speed.
•
If the spark plug is dirty, clean it and make sure that
the electrode gap is correct, refer to
on page 28 . (Fig. 81)
•
Replace the spark plug if it is necessary.
To inspect the augers and the scraper
bar
1. Before each use, inspect the augers and the scraper
bar for wear.
2. If the edge of the scraper bar is worn, reverse the
scraper bar. If the scraper bar has damages or is
worn on both edges, replace it.
