GENERAL
MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible
to
damage from various types of commercial
solvents and may be damaged
by their
use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline,
petroleum-based
products,
penetrating
oils, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals
can
damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
WARNING:
When servicing,
use only identical
Craftsman
replacement
parts.
Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage.
To
ensure safety and reliability,
all repairs should be performed
by a qualified
service technician.
CHUCK
REMOVAL
(Figs. 14. 15 and 16)
The chuck can be removed and
replaced
with a new one.
1.
Remove the battery and
lock the trigger switch on
the drill/driver
by placing the
direction-of-rotation
selector
in the center position.
2.
Open the chuck jaws.
3.
Insert a 5/16 in. or larger hex
key (available separately)
into
the chuck of the drill/driver
and securely tighten the
chuck jaws onto the hex key.
4.
Tap the hex key sharply with
a mallet (available separately)
in a clockwise
direction.
This
will loosen the screw in the
chuck for easy removal.
