Before a Clean Cycle

Werecommendventingyour kitchenwith an
openwindowor usinga ventilationfan or hood
duringthefirst self-deancycle.
Remove any broilerpan,broilergrid,probe,all
cookwareand any aluminumfoil from the oven.
NOTE:
If your ovenisequippedwith shiny,
silver-colored ovenracks,remove them
beforeyou beginthe self-clean cycle.
Theshiny,silver-colored ovenracks
(onsomemodels) can be self-cleaned, but
they willdarken,losetheirlusterand become
hard to slide.
If your ovenisequippedwith gray
porcelain-coated ovenracks,they may be
left in theovenduringthe self-clean cycle.
Soilon the front frame ofthe rangeand outside
thegasketon the door will needto be cleaned
by hand.Cleanthese areaswith hot water,
soap-filled steel-wool p adsor cleansers suchas
SoftScrub ® .Rinse wellwith cleanwater and dry.
Donot cleanthe gasket.Thefiberglassmaterial
of the ovendoor gasketcannotwithstand
abrasion. I t isessential f or the gasketto remain
intact. If you noticeit becomingworn or frayed,
replaceit.
Makesurethe ovenlight bulbcoveris
in placeandthe ovenlightis off.
IMPORTANT: Thehealthof somebirdsis
extremelysensitive to the fumesgivenoff
duringthe self-cleaning cycleof any range.
Movebirdsto anotherwell-ventilated room.
DoubleOvenand CanadianModels Only:
Thesurfaceunitsare automaticallydisabled
duringthe self-clean cycle.Makesurethat all
surfaceunitcontrolsare turnedoff at all times
duringthe self-clean cycle.Any surfaceunitthat
isset to an "on"position whilethe self-clean
cycleisoperatingwillautomaticallycomeon
afterthe self-cleancycleisfinished, a nd could
resultin an "on"unattendedsurfaceunit. Wait
untilthe self-clean cycleisfinishedto set and
usethe surfaceunits.

How to Set the Oven for Cleaning
Theovendoorsmustbeclosed and allcontrols set
correctlbl forthecycleto workproperlbl.

Touchthe SELF CLEAN pad.
A 3-hourself-clean time is recommended
for usewhencleaningsmall,contained
spills.A self-clean time of 5 hoursis
recommended for a dirtieroven.

If a time otherthan Shoursor 3 hoursis
needed, u sethe number padsand enter
the desiredcleantime.
Youcanchangethecleantime to any time
between3 hoursand 5 hours,depending on
how dirty your ovenis.

Touchthe START pad.
Theupperand lowerovendoorslock
automatically. T hecooktopelementsare also
lockedout duringself-clean. T hedisplaywill
showthe cleantime remaining. I t willnot be
possible to openthe ovendoorsor usethe
cooktopuntilthe temperaturedropsbelowthe
locktemperatureand LOCKEDIDOOR _ goes
off inthe controldisplay.
WhenLOCKED/DOOR6 g oesoff,you willbe
ableto open thedoors.
Theword LOCKED/DOOR _ willflash and
the worddoor willdisplayif you setthe clean
cycleand forgetto closethe ovendoors.
To stop a clean cycle, touch the CLEAR/OFF
pad. When LOCKED/DOOR_ goes off,
indicating the ovens have cooled below the
locking temperature, you will be able to open
the doors.
DoubleOvens:
Youcanset a cleancyclein both ovens
at the sametime;however, they will not
self-cleanat the sametime.Thelastovenset
will automaticallydelay itsstart untilthe end
of the firstoven'scleancycle.
Whenan ovenisset to self-clean, b oth oven
doorswilllockand the cooktopcontrolswill
lockout. Theovensand cooktopcannot be
usedwhenan ovenisset to self-clean.
