8) Keep your hand under the user's ischial tuberosity and rotate the valve anti-clockwise to
slowly let out air (see fig. 9).
9) Allow the ROHO insert to sink until your fingertips can only move up and down over a dis
tance of 20 – 25 mm (see fig. 14).
10) Close the valve by turning it clockwise (see fig. 12).
11) Wiggle your fingers to ensure the correct clearance. If there is less than 20 mm clearance
between the user and the wheelchair seat, air must be added and the process repeated.
INFORMATION: A hand check should be performed daily for all dry air flotation cush
ions. The seat cushion needs to be readjusted only when there is a change in clear
ance during a hand check, or after a puncture in the air insert has been repaired.
12) Slide the valve into the cover and close the zip.
6 Use
6.1 Positioning
Correct positioning of the seat cushion in the wheelchair must be maintained for daily use:
The label that says 'REAR' has to face the back (see fig. 5).
The hook-and-loop strap sewn to the seat cushion serves to secure it in the wheelchair.
6.2 Removing/Putting On the Cover
Removing the cover
The cover can be removed for cleaning of the cushion:
1) Unzip the cover along all three sides (see fig. 15).
2) Lift up the cover from the seating surface of the cushion (see fig. 16; see fig. 17).
3) Pull the tube on the ROHO insert out of the cover (see fig. 18).
4) Carefully remove the foam base with the ROHO insert from the cover (see fig. 19).
INFORMATION: See the cleaning instructions for information on washing.
Putting on the cover
1) Ensure the ROHO insert is in the correct position.
2) Unzip the cover along all three sides (see fig. 15).
3) Insert the cushion into the cover with the zipper running along the rear and side edges of the
cushion (see fig. 19).
4) Push the tube on the ROHO insert through the cover (see fig. 18).
5) Pull the cover over the cushion (see fig. 17; see fig. 16).
6) Zip up the cover again (see fig. 20).
7) Ensure the cover is fitted well and there are no large folds or wrinkles on the top surface.
6.3 Cleaning
NOTICE
Improper cleaning of the wheelchair cushion
Risk of damage to cushion due to user error
Never wash the cover at a temperature higher than the recommended as this may cause it to
shrink. This could impede the cushion's ability to redistribute pressure or it could damage
the fabric.
Do not use any bleaching agents for cleaning.
Never dry the foam components or inserts in a dryer.
INFORMATION
Replace the cover when it shows signs of advanced wear.
