For your safety
1.1
General safety statements
● Before using this product, carefully read the instructions for use.
● Strictly follow the instructions for use. The user must fully understand and
strictly observe the instructions.
● Use the product only for the purposes specified in the Intended Use section
of this document.
● Do not dispose of the instructions for use. Ensure that they are retained and
appropriately used by the product user.
● Only fully trained and competent users are permitted to use this product.
● Comply with all local and national rules and regulations associated with this
product.
● Only trained and competent personnel are permitted to inspect, repair, and
service the product.
● It is recommended that all repairs are carried out by Dräger.
● Do not use a faulty or incomplete product, and do not modify the product.
● Notify Dräger in the event of any component fault or failure.
● This product is approved according to ATEX directive 2014/34/EU. It must
only be used under the conditions specified in the approval certificate.
1.2
Use in potentially explosive atmospheres
● Certification information and the categories for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres are shown on the product label on the device. For further
information see: "Product overview", page 6.
● Do not modify the FS-5000 Flame Simulator in any way and do not drill
holes in any part of the enclosure. Modifying the product or drilling holes
would invalidate the explosion protection.
● Ensure that the materials used in the construction of the FS-
5000 Flame Simulator are compatible with the operating environment, and
that they are not affected by any anticipated contaminants. Do not use the
simulator in an oxigen-enriched atmosphere.
● It is vital for your safety and that of others that the function of the FS-
5000 Flame Simulator is understood and that the product is used and
maintained correctly.

Dräger FS-5000
● Do not attempt to replace the window as the glass and the front cover are
individually matched pairs to meet the stringent requirement of the
Hazardous area certification. The threaded portions of the simulator are
flame paths. These threads and the flame paths around the window are not
be repaired.
1.3
Meaning of the warning notices
The following warning notices are used in this document to alert the user to
potential hazards. The meanings of the warning notices are defined as follows:
