ROGRAMMING THE
In the modern automatic measurement system, communication between equip-
ment and computers is essential. The measured procedures can be varied with
users' testing programs, therefore, the programmable Hipot tester can be oper-
ated remotely from an instrument controller or computer across the RS-232 inter-
face (standard).
4.1
Interface Selection and Setup
The RS-232 baud rate can be changed in normal operation condition.
• Press the [UTILITY] key and knob switch or arrow keys on the front panel. The
last transmitting interface settings will be displayed.
• Select interface using the rotary knob and press [EDIT/SAVE].
• Next, select the baud rate and press [FIELD] to confirm the setting.
• Finally, press [EDIT/SAVE] to store the setup.
4.2
Connecting the Hipot via RS-232 Interface
4.2.1 The RS-232 Interface Capabilities
The RS-232 interface provides a direct connection with a computer. There are
some parameters you need to set on both sides. Once you have set these param-
eters, you can control the Hipot Tester through the RS-232 interface. The param-
eters needed to be set are:
• Baud rate: You can set rates of 1200, 2400, 4800 or 9600 baud
• Parity bit: none
• Data bit: 8 bits
• Stop bit: 1 stop bit
• Data flow control: none
4.2.2 Notes for RS-232 Installation
The Hipot Tester is a DTE device with a 9-pin D-type shell RS-232 connector
located on the rear panel. Figure 1 (next page) shows the equipment of 9-pin con-
nector (male) with its pin number assignments. Figure 2 (next page) shows the
