14. Maintenance and servicing
14.1
General
The cabinet is considered to be a safety system (in accordance with Section 4, paragraph 3 of the Ger-
man Workplace Ordinance, c, EEC Directive 89/391 and Rule No. 108-007 of the German Social Accident
Insurance Association) and must therefore be checked regularly for safety and functionality. The safety
cabinet must always be checked for externally visible faults or damage in the following cases:
Prior to use,
Following changes,
After maintenance work.
If damage or faults are visible, the cabinet must be taken out of service until these faults have been recti-
fied. The following maintenance work must be carried out at certain intervals:

For collecting trays compliant with StawaR (Steel Tray Directive): "The condition of the collecting tray in
safety cabinets according to DIN EN 14470-1 must be checked every 6 months by way of a visual inspec-
tion. At least in the case of steel collecting trays in accordance with DIN EN 10025-2 or DIN EN 10028-2,
the test must also be carried out on the underside of the tray. The result must be recorded and presented
to the responsible water authorities upon request."
14.2
Annual safety inspection
According to Section 4, paragraph 3 of the
German Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV) and
BGR 234/6.1 of the German Employers' Liability
Insurance Association Rules for Safety and Health
at Work, the safety and functionality of safety cabi-
nets must be checked.
The outcomes and measures must be document-
ed.
The annual inspection can only be carried out by
a specialist. Only CEMO can guarantee optimum
servicing of CEMO products.
Lubricate the door latch and hinges.
Ideally daily, but at least once a week, the collecting tray should be
inspected for any leakage of liquids. Any liquid that has leaked out must
be removed immediately and the collecting tray and the platforms must
be inspected to establish whether it is still suitable for use; it must be
replaced if necessary.
Clean and check for damage.
Open the door and check that it is closing properly.
Test the effectiveness using a wool thread, meter, smoke tube, etc.
Check for correct positioning and replace the seals if they are visibly
damaged

affixed to the cabinet.
14.3
Cleaning
The safety cabinet can be cleaned using a soft
cloth.
