6 OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
DEVICE
CAUTION
In order to ensure a safe bloodless field while
avoiding exposure of the patient to unneces-
sary stress, an appropriate cuff pressure must
be selected, depending on the cuff size and the
systolic blood pressure in the extremity.
The duration of the bloodless field must not
exceed two hours.
CAUTION
A countdown of 2 hours is not possible!
The timer can be preset to a max. of 99 min
59  sec. The countdown duration must be
set again for a two-hour bloodless field (see
"Instructions for use, 8 Operating Instructions
Timer").
After attaching and securing the single cuff, the
tourniquet device is operated as follows:
1. Reset the precision pressure regulator knob to zero by
turning counterclockwise as far as it will go.
2. Connect the connection hose of the single cuff and
the coil tubing of the device with the positive locking
connector.
3. After exsanguination, fill the single cuff to the desired
cuff pressure or block by turning the knob. The current
cuff pressure is continuously displayed on the right
manometer and must be continuously monitored.
4. The cuff pressure can be regulated up (e.g. in the case
of secondary haemorrhage) or down at any time with
the precision pressure regulator knob.
5. After termination of surgery, the cuff must be deflated
by slowly turning (counterclockwise to 0) the knob.
TOURNIQUET
Manual operation (safety system)
In the event of compressed air failure or disconnection
from the central compressed air supply (e.g. for patient
transport), the device automatically switches to manual
operation mode (see indicator eye). The device continues
to function after this. This means:
1. The currently set cuff pressure remains unchanged in
2. Inflation of the cuff now continues with the hand
3. The cuff chamber can be deflated by pressing the cor-

responding deflate button.
CAUTION
Version A
Pressure connection RECTUS with pres-
sure hose:
For devices that are operated with a wall gas
probe with one-way valve (NOT recommended),
it must be ensured that the pressure hose is
disconnected from the device, as a sudden pres-
sure drop in the cuff cannot be ruled out in the
event of disconnection at the wall gas probe.
Version B
Pressure connection NIST:
For devices that are operated with a NIST con-
nector and wall gas probe with one-way valve
(NOT recommended), it must be ensured that
the pressure hose is first disconnected from
the wall gas probe and then from the device,
as a sudden pressure drop in the cuff cannot
be ruled out.
