– Never attempt to modify or override the
shredder vacs controls or safety devices
in any way.
– Never use a shredder vac that has been
modified or altered from its original

– Do not put any object into the openings of
the shredder vac.
– Do not use the shredder vac with any
openings blocked.
– Keep the shredder vac free of dust, lint,
hair and anything that might reduce air
flow.
■ If the shredder vac is dropped or subjected to
similar heavy impacts:
– Check that it is undamaged, in good con‐
dition and functioning properly before con‐
tinuing work.
– Check that the controls and safety devi‐
ces are working properly.
– Check the LEDs on the battery for error
messages,

– Check that the battery has not been dam‐
aged. Never use or charge a malfunction‐
ing, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery.
– Never work with a damaged or malfunc‐
tioning shredder vac or battery. In case of
doubt, have the shredder vac and battery

battery before assembling,
transporting, adjusting,
inspecting, cleaning, serv‐
icing, maintaining or stor‐
ing the shredder vac, and
any other time it is not in
use.

authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be
checked before further operation.
■ Genuine STIHL replacement parts are specifi‐
cally designed to match your shredder vac and
meet safety and performance requirements.
Use of parts that are not authorized or
approved by STIHL may cause serious or fatal
injury or property damage.
– STIHL recommends that only identical
replacement parts be used.

Using the Shredder Vac
6.6.1
Before Operation
WARNING
■ Misuse or unauthorized use may result in per‐
sonal injury and property damage.
– Use the shredder vac only as described in
this instruction manual.
■ Using a shredder vac that is modified, dam‐
aged, improperly adjusted or maintained, or
not completely and securely assembled can
increase the risk of serious personal injury.
– Never operate a shredder vac that is
modified, damaged, improperly main‐
tained or not completely and securely
assembled.
– Always check your shredder vac for
proper condition and operation before
starting work, particularly the trigger
switch.
– Ensure that the trigger switch moves
freely and springs back into place when
released.
– Never attempt to modify or override the
controls or safety devices in any way.
– If your shredder vac or any part is dam‐
aged or does not function properly, take it
to your authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
Do not use the shredder vac until the
problem has been corrected.
■ Before inserting the battery:
– Check the electrical contacts in the bat‐
tery compartment for corrosion or other
foreign matter and keep clean.
