4.1

Illumination system

The SZM-1-gEM and SZM-2-gEM come with an integrated illumination system based on
incident and brightfield/darkfield transmitted light. by using the correct light it's possible to
obtain the best image of your sample.
before starting, read the section 5.3 about electrical safety precautions. Then, insert the
power cord and use the brightness controls to turn on the lamps and control the light intensi-
ty.

Brightfield/Darkfield selector
The incident light intensity knob allows to switch on and adjust the light coming from the ha-
logen lamp above the sample.
The brightfield/Darkfield knob allows to adjust the light intensity coming from the LED illumi-
nator.
The brightfield/Darkfield selector knob includes 3 positions: only darkfield, only brightfield, or
both darkfield and brightfield off.
when using brightfield illumination, it's possible to shift the black velvet slider by pulling the
lever:
