VIP™ 5162 Signal Processor User Manual Rev. 1
The program/preview buttons, and some of the switching effect buttons, are used to operate the
signal processor. Each of these buttons has an indicator that lights up if the button is active. For
example:
· If <FADE> is lit, it means that the active switching effect is fade.
· If <DV3> on the top row is lit, it means that input DV3 is the live output on the program screen.
· If <2> on the bottom row is lit, it means that input 2 is the preview output on the preview monitor,
and input 2 will go to live output if <TAKE> is pressed.
· If <TAKE> is lit, it means that the processor is currently switching the live output from one input
source to another.
All Front Panel Operating buttons are described in detail in the previous sections:
·

·

Switching and Effects Buttons

These buttons correspond to each on the 6 input sources on the signal processor.
The lit button indicates which input source is currently the live output on the program screen.
Pressing these buttons immediately affects the program screen. The current live output on the
program screen will be replaced by live output from the button that was just pressed.

Program Buttons (Live Output)
These buttons correspond to each on the 6 input sources on the signal processor.
The lit button indicates which input source is currently the preview output on the preview monitor.
Pressing these buttons does not affect the program screen. These buttons are used to select which
input source goes to the preview output now and will go to live output when <TAKE> or <CUT> is
pressed.
Pressing these buttons changes the preview output. The live output will not change until <TAKE> or
<CUT> is pressed.

Preview Buttons (Preview Output)
Note: Only input 1 and input 2 require programming. The other inputs are auto-sensing. If
there is a source plugged in and powered on, the signal processor will recognize it.
The switching buttons change the live output being sent to the program screen. The switching
buttons are: <BLK>, <TAKE>, <TEST PATTERN>.
The effects buttons configure, and set the way the live output is replaced by the preview output when
the <TAKE> button is pressed. The effect buttons are: <FADE> and <WIPE>.
